I like the vortex viper 6.5x20x50. Once the mag. /hash marks are worked out it makes a great scope for.22 rabbit shooting. 

Wildcat panther or evolution. 

Used both and both work well. Must be.17 rated.

I have a 12-50x56 on another rem 700 and that’s fine. 

I don’t feel comfortable with the scope too far forward. Maybe I just have dodgy eyesight. 

When set up correctly on the rifle with medium rings the bolt just touch’s the ir dial. Using high rings would make the scope too high from the barrel. ??

I’ve tried one and it won’t work. The only way is to put on high mounts. Or bend the bolt handle.  

Anyone else tried??

I think I have one of those scopes somewhere but couldn’t get on with it. I replaced it with a vortex. I’ll have another look through it but will sell it if I’m not happy with it. 

-hi,  thanks for all the suggestions.   I thought there would be a few different answers.  I have vortex and S&B on my other rifles but just thought i'd treat myself to a nice long range varminting setup so I didn't want to rush into itand make sure I got the right scope for the job.   my eyesight is not so good and I do prefer and shoot well with high mag scopes.

sightron    -8-32x56  or 10-60x60   ???

hi,   yes its not for serious target shooting just for practising and keeping my eye in.   I have a 223 with a nightvision set up. but could always swap them round.

hi,  theres no budget .  rifle is 22.250 but may get .204   probably shooting out to 400yrds  and target shooting at that range.
