Jeez H christ, how touchy can you lot get???   I never dreamt that my post would give rise to so much hypertension.................I thought shooters were made of sterner stuff.

    Pete

Not your post in particular - there is a drip drip drip of sectarianism in our sport !

No hypertension here. Rather the opposite - I am off to Shot Show in Las Vegas tomorrow.

I shall spend a day on the range and 5 days walking the booths. No doubt, I will come across vendors with things that dont float my boat. And I will just walk by. I wont feel the need to blunder in and tell them they are doing it wrong !

It would be refreshing to see certain negative individuals do the same, online.

Why don't we all start fighting amongst ourselves? After all it isn't as if anybody else is out to get us! Let people do what they enjoy. I mean if you are a stalker the plan is to get reasonably close anyway. As long as people are safe, have fun I say.

    David.

    Well said David.

All this holier than thou bullshit gets tiresome.

Each to their own ! Growing up in Ireland I thought I had experienced sectarianism..........then I became a shooter in the UK and realised I had seen nothing yet !

90% of my shooting is competitive, be it CSR or the NRA run matches a few times per year. The rest is vermin and deer stalking.  I dont particularly enjoy "plinking" but would not dream of looking down on those who enjoy it. Or claiming that my way of enjoying my hobby is superior / is "Gods way"  :-/

Crack on and enjoy your shooting - be it unsupported or off a bipod, 100 yards or 1000 yards, F-class or CSR, airsoft or airgun, camo or leather etc etc etc

And if you have nothing good to say about your fellow shooters choice of shooting, how about saying nothing at all !!

Do you know if they are they the Ti model?

Your direct experience of an Oceania Mod is what I was looking to obtain. The mark 1 ear doing the comparison and not some machine where quite clearly there are all sorts of science factors that will cause inconsistencies is far more informative for my needs. I would hate to be be left in the same boat as the owners of the product Brown Dog refers to, that was utterly crap and was hardly any different shot being fired from an unmoderated rifle.

Also the fact the NRA will be putting a few rounds through the Oceania’s throughout a days McQeens shooting they must be standing up pretty well.

It’s not all about DB suppression. Gas flow management, durability and weight are all factors when choosing a silencer.

For me it is much more pleasant to put a shot down range through a silencer rather than a muzzle brake or naked muzzle due to the pressure generated, that’s a personal choice.  On range hearing protection should be worn because there will firearms present that don’t use silencers.

When stalking/hunting the use of a silencer will often be enough for people to choose to for go hearing protection. The amount time of exposure to a dangerous level of sound is very short and there are other factors that will also have a bearing on the hazard, such as being behind the muzzle report and not having the sonic crack going over head.

I believe it has been acknowledged for some time that manufactures DB reduction claims are not to be taken at face value. However the link I posted to a review by the New Zealand magazine  appears to have been conducted on a level playing field in terms of the same conditions etc  whether or not this has been viewed by recent posters I’m not sure.

No idea if Ti or not - I just remember being at the match and the moderators were very quiet indeed !

  4. Scotch I was going to have a phoenix on the HABU but we're the bipod will mount on the top of the forend,it will interfere with sling mounting point on the side of the forend so I will have to go underneath. Thanks mate.

You could go with my type B ?

6.5-8" and 7-9" in stock and ready for shipping.

  5. Damn shame as this has just put my rather expensive Leatherman out with the law.......... Ffs

Yes - which is why I have a Gerber "bladeless" multitool. Designed without a blade for employees of "knife free" zones in US.

Or you could use a SOG which has a non locking blade.

Nowadays I EDC a swiss army knife.

  6. Put "Your Honour" on the end of that and say it out loud (to see how that would sound in court :) )

Correct - down to a court to decide.

However, being the equivalent to a swiss army knife or multitool in contents, I reckon you would stand a good chance.

Its not as if its a dagger being stored in the buckle.

And looking like is not the same as disguised !

I will stick to my trusty swiss army knife though.........

  7. Open to interpretation really.

    Is it "disguised" ?

With the makers name emblazoned and parts visible at side ?

Is it marketed as "disguised" ?

Lets face it - a multi tool looks like a pliars to the layman but its not disguised as a pliars.

  8. My Phoenix Tactical Bipod ( among a few others I understand ) has been undergoing assessment by a certain Police Firearms Unit as a replacement for the Versapods on their Accuracy International rifles.

They have had a 7 - 9" and a 6.5 - 8" Type B with AI spigots to play with for a couple of months now.

Just had the great news that mine came out on top so they have ordered a batch !

If any of you spot my bipod in any Police media pics, please post here and you will be rewarded !

  9. Re my EDC pouch - I have two of these - the plan was to use one for my everyday trousers and one for my hunting / shooting trousers to avoid transferring pouch each time.

But in practice, I have done just that - pretty much used just the one pouch.

So, it now looks like I have one surplus to requirements............

  10. Check this out! Looks pretty cool, I think that things might have gone seriously pear shaped if you needed it.

The main review from another forum says ...

Wilderness Survival Card - I thought it was a gimmick & after about 5 weeks of waiting I gave up & thought I had been robbed of my $2.95, but now about 7 weeks after ordering it Arrived! And a lot better then expected, steel looks good, items are sharp, feels like each item would/could do its intended job. I have not taken it apart as I got only one, but will order some more now you can order like 5 at once for about $16. Not just for survival but that time you need tweezers to remove a large thorn or sting, or have lost your last needle and need to repair your tent/tarp for a few grams worth having

    http://readyman.com/Free-Special-For...Survival-Card/

Nice item - just ordered one.

  11. Here is mine -

Gerber "Bladeless" multitool and Swiss Army Knife. In a nice little pouch hand made by a Polish soldier.

The Swiss Army Knife is a little bit unique in that it was hand assembled. By me ! I was at IWA back in 2009 and Victorinox had a stand there. They were allowing VIPs to sit at a little workbench and hand assemble their own knives. I managed to blag my way in :D

  12. Just bought a pair of Danner RAT,s from the states. A couple of friends have them and really rate them. Can't wait to try them.

I have had a pair of these for the past 3 years Dave - very happy with them.
