I had a standard T3 in .243 chambered to 6br..my concern was the same as yours and took the chance after calling Australia and speaking with Dave at watersrifleman.com .. Since purchasing it the waters rileman  magazine has worked flawlessly for the past two years, with all bullet weights and most importantly, at whatever depth they are seated. Had mine from riflemags.co.uk ..It was a bit pricey but it's a top quality piece of kit and machined beautiful. No fettling or smithing was needed.

As an alternative and depending at what distance you're shooting the obvious choice for me would be 107smk. Although, I found shooting them at a short distance, in my case 100yds, they wouldn't group consistently and were about as much use as a Redding lock ring.  .. However, at 300yds they came good delivering a 2.5in group. At 300yds I thought this was excellent results. My previous data shows that was out of my old .243, 24in barrel and 40.5g of Ramshot Hunter..(wouldn't use Hunter again..no throat in barrel left..but definitely the 107smk as an alternative

I guess this is what seems to be a manufacturing anomaly and reading (in hindsight) the many user experiences I'm not the only one who's displeased. What is disappointing is Redding don't view this as a fault, but place the onus on the end user thereby implying it's not being installed/used correctly. I think Redding should consider addressing this issue because after all, the consumer is not lying and is not paying peanuts for these tools. 

'Once-bitten-twice-shy'....won't be buying anything Redding again simply because I'll never know if it'll work until I try it?...I dont buy a car and wonder if I'm going to be able to drive it - same principle applies

Richiww, I saw that on their website too  - If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our tech line (607) 753-3331 .... - I don't have any questions per-se for Redding Tech, but I do have a comment - "go back to the drawing-board, it does not work in the way that it should, end-of, and absolutely nothing will convince me otherwise.

They should come with a warning akin to, 'buyer beware, the lock rings supplied with this die are for aesthetic purposes only - in the unlikely event the lock-ring will glide smoothly across the threads count yourself as one fortunate son-of-a-bitch."

The two lock-rings I had were not fit for purpose and I'm surpsrised because they're not the cheapest of dies - should have done my research because now, after the 'barn-door-has-been-closed', I note many other people had issues with these things - should have stuck with Forster in the first place

Just had a test of the RCBS lock rings and they work a treat!

No change of press. A new set of dies..and what a load-of-b@£#@*&s these lock rings are..never again!!

Yeah I got the Forster rings on a different cartridge and they thread faultlessly. Seems a bit of a rip-off that Redding can't offer the same...just thought there might be a fix for the Redding's.. Cheers 

What do people use to 'free-up' the lock rings on Redding dies to make them rotate smoothly?.. Mine keep 'binding' like f#** to the point I dread when I have to adjust them. This is a nightmare when trying to set them to 1/1000" ..The threads are clean on both the rings and the dies. Tried using a spot of lithium grease and this did not solve the 'binding'..

No it's not - N140 works perfectly well, and damn accurately with the 107 SMK...as well as with 103 eld-x....at least in my rifle

Hmmm, not familiar with Creed cartridge....but for 90g and above bullet weight I use N140 in the BR....If I were you I wouldn't faf around swapping and changing bullets just yet, especially if you have a decent supply of them - persevere, but try N140 instead of 150 ....

What pissed me off about it is my group with the 103g ELD-X only came together after 2 boxes of load development, thereby I believed I had forked out hard earned cash for a bullet that I thought wasn't going to work, (whereas I can usually find the node in half a box) - not so with the ELD-X  😟...I bought them only because I couldn't get hold of the 95g SMK

It took a while to get there, 230 odd rounds or so, and playing with seating-depth - so yes, I did find the ELD-X finicky, extremely so - no pun intended

Pointless me listing the actual seating-depth etc...but, my charge in a 6BR is - 27.2g of N140

Persevere, and give the barrel (and yourself) a chance

'in recent times'?..as such, no....but used this outfit back 2018 and indeed it was 'simple' - excellent service on their 'live chat service' option.

I purchased dies and they arrived in under 2 weeks......It would depend on what trying to have shipped, I would think - but no problem buying dies

Right click the task-bar on the bottom of your screen...a menu will open and then click on 'Task Manager'....on the top of the box that has opened you will see a row of tabs...click the 'Startup' tab...then, in this window click on Microsoft Edge to highlight it...then, on the bottom of that window click 'disable'

Bought mine 4years back and still going strong, still waterproof following prolonged outings from shooting to dog walking in downpours and have not treated it. I was skeptical but took the plunge and forked a good few quid back then, but if you can get one in your size seeing the offer/price of them these days, (because of old stock/designs etc??) it is a cracking jacket. More than enough large pockets a-plenty, light enough to be comfortable and very versatile - this is one of my better purchases and will probably, following personal experience, never buy a Deerhunter or a Seeland again

42.9 of Swiss-50 proved to be the accuracy load for me....Wasn't an enjoyable experience though as I feel the T3x factory platform is too light - recoil (for me on that platform) was a bitch and I would safely say even of I was given a box of the 185's again I would most kindly pass them on to someone else, to shoot out of a heavier/stable platform

Ralph, if you feel wary or doubtful of your ability to disassemble your bolt, set your mobile to video your procedure. Then, reverse your procedure to reassemble your bolt after you've completed your measuring.

When you've done this once you will gain the confidence to use this method every time (which is by far the most accurate) to measure every bullet you use, should you wish to do so - it really is straightforward

Believe me, moons ago I tried it your way with the cut case method, and the Stoney Point gauge - once gained confidence to strip the bolt method I never looked back. It also gives you the opportunity to check your firing pin and springs

Insert the die in your press and tighten the lock ring. The die in itself will not move, or it shouldn't move. If it does move, buy new lock rings, if it still moves after installing new lock rings, buy a new die, then if the die still moves, buy a new press. If you then meticulously repeat the aforementioned and the die still moves, buy some factory ammo and be satisfied that at least you've given it a bloody good go! 👌

Your 527 will in all likelihood print 'one-atop-the-other' assuming you have worked up a load and fed it what is most preferable. From personal experience I had the 1:9 twist varmint variant that shot the standard 69g SMK with exceptional accuracy, and yes, this was with the 'factory barrel' - never had any reason to even consider rebarreling, as it held its accuracy to-a-pinpoint throughout the time I had it.

No reason to alter the load of 24.4g of N140 seated at Sierra's book length of 2.260....

Practice, and practice more, to get your 527 into that one-hole-group you strive to achieve and it will surely achieve it - it was by far THE most accurate 'factory' rifle I have ever had the pleasure of shooting, and I've shot quite a few. Indeed it was so reliable, and the only rifle I've had that could consistently reproduce a 0.5" cold-bore shot to pick-up from where I left off on my previous outing - a remarkable little gun

No reason to laugh - had the same one for 17yrs and performs as good as when new as long as cleaned and cared for - and has also outlasted x 2 SAK mods

Can pick one up in many of the usual shooting stores - usually there's one laying about in the back of a cupboard in the little oblong red, black, & white box 👍
