OK Dave, when you have some concrete proposals perhaps you could share them? What's your action plan?
The simplest and most concrete is a 'Gun Lobby', where EVERYONE from EVERY discipline signs up to to it, no insurance, no gimmicks just a cheap sign up (maybe £10/pa) and we lobby and single issue vote as required, Basically what our NRA was before it Sold Out.
People will say we don't want it it will be just like the American NRA, well that's a good thing.. they Have 4 Million members, yet there are over 100 million shooters, we I would guess need a minimum of 100,000 out of some 600,000 shooters which is just under 20%.
If the GCN can do damage with about 10 members , maybe we can stop the rot as a lobby!

Same area and as you well and the same happened to me about 4 years ago..it's getting worse now.
I put a picture up of a OLD axe I was restoring, on my workbench, next to toe tools i was using, no threatening context.
Next day , phone call from my FEO who wanted to see me as a so called 'Friend' saw it and felt threatened, and reported it, as I was flagged as FAC they acted saying basically I shouldn't post ANY pictures that could upset anyone, so that included and Guns/Shooting/or other 'weapons' on my public profile...
I told them to 'Foxtrot Oscar'
Two FEO's turned up, I had the Gun Club Secretary present as my witness, the whole thing was pathetic and very worrying..
My profile is locked down to friends only now, but I still post Pics to my own and shooting pages. Plus regular purges of friends who don't share my view (which is rather sad).
This IS happening and more frequently, there IS anti-shooting agenda in most force areas, I have friends and family in the Police up to DCS level and they have all stated as such, off the record obviously, they cannot target the criminals successfully, so legal shooters are the next best thing!
The strangest thing is most rank and file cops are NOT anti-shooting but this is pushed down from Senior Level.
Heads of Firearms in both my local areas are anti-gun and anti shooting (good qualifications for the job in hand)
Which shows and is proven by the current discussion document on Licensing changes.
Not a single law passed in the the last 40 years has had the slightest impact on Criminal Firearm usage, to suggest any different is a Lie. Thus to apply OCCAM'S Razor, any FURTHER restrictions on LAW abiding shooters can only be construed to remove as many firearms from private ownership as possible, using more and more rules to either BAN or make compliance as difficult as possible.
Of course there is a agenda and has been for decades.
Facilitated by the powers that be and enabled by our complete lack of response as we are scared stiff of forming a Gun LObby, which IMHO is exactly what is required.
The main Associations won't co-operate with each other and will happily sacrifice nay of their competitors to save their own, sadly so will a LOT of shooters.
Our days are numbered, of that I am absolutely sure, unless to a MAN we all say STOP.
And based on the posts here, that isn't going to happen.

Pops, a few U.K. ladies and gents would say that I have given them the opportunity to enjoy something the U.K. government took away from them.
How much has your ‘engage and influence’ been working then? Any chance of repealing any prat of the pistol ban.....no I didn’t think so.
Do you have a LINK or Website for your range, most interested, iif allowed that is.
Thanks

Yes, I've posted my feedback to the consultation and I'll be writing to my MP forthwith. I may write to the relevant minister as yet. That may be better focused later in the process.
Best of luck with your legal advice..
Thanks.
My MP is a utter waste of space, Rosie Cooper, I won't waste the stamp, the PCC for Lancashire may be the same, which is why we are seeking advice.
I think shooters have 'GIVEN' enough over the last 40 years, time to say STOP!!!

so, what are you doing about it?
A few plans are in the Pipeline, we are seeking Legal advice in one specific area, to put more info on a Public BB at this time would be disadvantageous..
Plus, I will obviously be replying the this last lot of BS they have thought up...
Are you doing anything?

I see various issues with this. Two particularly come to mind regarding the last few posts on the thread.
1. I think that ALL additional firearms controls must be fought tooth-and-nail. We have long passed the thin end of the wedge position in the UK and any further controls just represent the thick end passing through, which will eventually just lead to us losing our firearms by incremental controls. In the pre-able to the Consultation, it admits that UK firearms controls are amongst the strictest in the world, but then cannot take the next logical step to demonstrate that these controls have made firearms crime go away. Because patently they haven't. Instead the government is just proposing more and more controls, which will only impact on the legitimate shooters, because the criminals don't care a fig.
2. Specifically with the potential control on cases and bullets the wording really concerns me here. It doesn't say 'manufacture of unauthorised ammunition'. It says 'unauthorised quantities of ammunition'. So if you have 250 rounds on your FAC, that means you can only have 250 bullets, 250 primers, 250 cases and enough powder for 250 rounds; any more that this would allow you to manufacture 'unauthorised quantities of complete rounds of ammunition'.
Triffid
Exactly
Not a SINGLE extra law or control has had the SLIGHTEST impact on the ever increasing CRIMINAL use of Firearms....
YET, some people still accept every bit of tripe the Government think up...
Nearly every Scrote in Liverpool is now running about with Glock pistols, huge amount have been smuggled in, yet they were banned for us mere mortals in 1997, go figure.
I am totally against any further restrictions on Legitimate Shooters, we are NOT the problem.
Lancashire Constabulary have now took it upon themselves to threaten FAC/SGC holders with revocation of their Licences if they dare to post pictures of their activities on their personal Social Media, THAT is how bad it is getting...
Thin end of the wedge....that WEDGE is a MILE thick these days - Enough is ENOUGH! -
More probably the Fact that we had left - cheered the weather up immeasurably....
-
I was there on Friday as well, a superb day out, just a shame that we had to leave at lunch time.
Definitely be back... -
