  1. As stated in the advert, I can't get on well with the Bushnell laser rangefinders due to my hands being badly affected by arthritis so I have replaced them with a set of Leica Geovid R 8x42.

A significant factor is the position of the focus wheel on the Bushnells. The binoculars I have are shown below:

    Focuswheels.thumb.jpg.e7313c0590ed4104e000dd8280dda100.jpg

From left to right Vortex Diamondback 8x28HD, Zeiss Conquest HD 8x42, Leica Geovid R 8x42, Bushnell Fusion 10x42. Note that the focus wheel of the first three is between the eye pieces, and that of the Bushnells is on the other side of the pivot bridge, nearly half way down the body. That means I have to hold them differently to the others and use other fingers to focus, difficult and uncomfortable due to arthritis. Hence they are up for sale. As stated they are as new, less than a year old and for sale for a reason. Price reduction to £525.

  2. Bushnell Fusion X 10x42 rangefinding binoculars.

Laser range finding with ballistic function, display in yards/metres, MOA or MILS.

As new, less than one year old. I can't get on with them, my hands are quite small and badly arthritic and these just don't suit me. They have been in a Ridgeline carrier since new, the Bushnell soft case has not been used. £525 posted UK.    Advertised elsewhere.

This is the project the Schmidt & Bender was bought for, a Tikka T3 Sporter in 6.5x55 Swedish. The plan was to use it with the 12-42 NXS on the range and swap to the S & B for stalking. It was however immediately obvious when I took delivery of the T3 that it was a non starter, the Sporter is far too heavy and unwieldy to use as a stalking rifle.

I was lucky in that a nice Sako 75 in 6.5x55 with an S & B 8x56 became available at a decent price, so I bought that and kept the Sporter as a range rifle.

Have you considered improving the T1X trigger to help with accuracy and fitting a barrel tuner to the existing barrel?

A Bix & Andy comp ball bearing trigger will give you release pressures as low as 3oz, a huge difference over a factory T1X trigger. I dont think I would be looking to spend the money replacing the barrel until I had upgraded the rest of the shooting system. Barrel tuners can also make a big difference to getting the best out of the barrel and ammo.

Thanks for that Al, I will look into both suggestions. I am working through various ammunition types as well.

  6. I am considering options for a match grade .22LR. At present I have a Tikka T1 which is a pretty accurate for an off the shelf rifle but I would like to improve accuracy for target events. At present it has a GRS Bifrost stock, as I have two T3 also with Bifrost stocks I would like to keep the stock. What are your views about fitting a match grade barrel, can I expect to gain much improvement, has anyone done this, are there any other ideas to consider?
