  1. that which promotes growth and vigour !

Only spoke ( via txt) with him a couple of weeks ago about obtaining some GGG .223 brass that he had loads of.

He rebarreled both my main rifles & I was even out today shooting with one.

Great bloke, will be sadly missed.

  2. Hi,

I'm looking for information on who - other than sporting services  - stocks the scope, crown comb covers

it would appear that they do the Eberlestock one, but I can't find any other options available in the uk, or who would ship to the uk for a reasonable rate.

my reason for these is they look more substantial protection than just the neoprene ones, I could be wrong ...?!

but any information on where to get one or other options available would be greatly recieved

    cheers

  3. I think this thread has dived off on a tangent..

The OP  asked about 2 vortex scopes, presumably because  he likes Vortex scopes & Most probably because the warrantee.

Personaly , I've looked through a PST2 and I like what I see, I've not looked through a Razor gen2, but do know its heavy - probably due to the weight of the glass, as I don't think an extra 4mm of tube weighs that much.

The Differance in locking turrets makes me lean towards it , but as the OP asked,

the laws of deminshed returns, like F1, mean that small gains cost lots. But

is there that much extra to be had in performance of the glass for the extra cost ?

    Hi Treetop,

FYI, I think CFE223 is going to be out of reach once REACH restrictions kick in. I'd hate for you to develop a load with it, only to find its unobtainable.

    XBR isn't , that why I said I would move to CFE223....

homework done well in advance 😜

  5. Hi,

to be really honest, I'd find your own load and work up

i use 8208 XBR, but it's in short supply.. When it's gone I will move over to CFE223

use load data for .20 Tactical & go from there...

I only shoot the 39's as I wanted something for fox that I know would work every time without question - that's not to say that the 32's don't work, I just don't have any experience of them

  6. Mines fantastic !       Thanks Bradders

As he says he built me one using my rem700 223 as a starting platform

went for a sassen 1:10 twist 24" barrel,  i use 39gr Blitzkings & my Load runs them at 3700fps, fast, flat & deadly,  explosive on impact

using a pred 8 sound mod, the impact sounds loader than the muzzle report.

as for dies : I use the standard 223 capping die, and a Redding 223 bushing die with a .204 expander pin - the bushing will depending on your brass thickness but it's an easy & simple process. The shoulders will need knocking back on first load from 223 but it's not hard to get right. Every thing else stays the same from 223.

honestly the best think I've done as far as a varmint rifle, Bradders is a good guy to deal with & made the process easy.

i use mine with a photon NV & with my setup I zero to 85 yards , this gives me 1" + / - out to 255 yards

  7. Hi,

you can buy the adaptor from the 'get go' same as other rails & options.

i have 2x AICS chassis with viperskins & they have served very well for a number of years, but I fancied a change.

I could not decide if I wanted the Element or Evolution, but then I see the Envy & really liked some of the features that they have included, like an Arca- Swiss rail , which will come in handy when I shoot off the tripod.

the Dutch connection has certainly helped on the tax / duty, I believe that Norway has similar deals with uk, but I could not get a definitive answer.

    All the best

  8. Well,

after talking to XLR in the US, they put me on to one of there dealers in Holland.

suffice to say that after we had a haggle,  I have now ordered the XLR Element chassis & the new XLR Envy chassis. I am unsure if the exact date of arrival as he is compiling 1 order so as to split the transportation & tax.

Hopefully not long to wait !

  9. As a British consumer buying imported goods, I would rather have a strong £ ..

But thats a can of worms/ side thread, that I am sure I, like others would be happy to discuss elsewhere- however as this thread was about rifle stocks, I would rather keep it on track

    Thanks

  10. It works out at £722 for the Evolution + tax - unless I'm doing something wrong ?!

The envy which has a different ( open ) fore end is about £ 588 + tax

But it's a massive saving on shipping from the US ... Damn this £ to $ !! In fact, damn ' quantitive easing' lowering the £ completely...
