Thanks for the replies lads!
does anyone know if Mark Bradley is still building ar .22’s. I know he had talked about stopping making them at one point.
Any preferences over BAR 22, Lantac, calibre innovations or NWCP rifles? -
Hi all,
I am wanting to get a semi auto again after a few years without one, I used to have a couple of .22 ruger semi custom builds but I don’t think I want to go down that road again.
what about other custom builds?how are the smith and wesson mp15 rifles with custom parts? Are they reliable and accurate?
The rifle will be used for fun, steel plates and the likes but It has to be accurate and reliable.
thanks. -
We to go order this part but with the shipping it was over $100. Don’t think that it’s worth that, cheaper accordingly to just buy a new torch maybe unless anyone knows of another uk alternative?

Hi all, I have a Surefire M2 centurion here that I would like to convert to LED.
Has anyone on here done this and what parts do I need.
thanks -

Hi all,
Im looking into getting a ‘battle belt’ setup for my different types of shooting and I’m wondering if anyone uses these on here and what make and opinions on practicality and quality?
I shoot range, rifle, pistol, shotgun and hunt fox, deer, rabbit and bird.
I want something that I can change out for example, for pistol shooting incorporate a holster and mag pouches along with dump pouch for empty cartridges. Hunting, pouches for range finder, magazines, first aid kit, knife etc.
I would like a quality system with all of these items. Anybody able to shed any light as to what works and what doesn’t? -
-
What kind of price is this item?

I always have 2 Israeli banadages and 2 packs of Quikclot Gauze in my shooting bag - I think most people scale their kit for trying to stabilise a gunshot wound with the kit equivalent of trying to manure a 10 acre field with a fart.
?

I think a first aid kit is kind of essential, especially if you are shooting. Noone knows what might ever happen.

Hi Elwood... I don't think you will upset too many of us 22.25 shooters TBH.... although there might be a wry smile or two.
Last weekend , just checking my zero before varminting , I fired the two three shot groups below using 75 grn Amax @ 3360 fps..
In January I shot this three shot group with the inferior 22.250 at exactly 500 yrds (3 shots witnessed by 2 people)
I think the 22 BR is a great calibre and obviously the OP wants a custom calibre.
In my eyes it means is more case prepping - more expense for no gain in the field... and usually limited to a single shot rifle.....
Everyone to their own , as they say

Alan,
I would not feel under gunned in any way if I had a 22-250 that shoots like youres! Obviously you the shooter has to drive it and you do that very well!
As you say as a field gun it would do the job very well and maybe im over looking the 22-250 too much?
Its just nice to be different sometimes......
Im even more undecided now ?

I shoot a single shot 22BR 1:12 twist, launching 55 grn SBKs @3580fps it groups 2" at 500yds and i have taken rabbits at 470 yards and crows at 430.
Longest fox was 230yds, unless you really want to stretch the range i dont think you need to go for fast twists and heavy bullets, just use a more suitable calibre, personally when i want to reach out past 500 i pick up my 257 AI.
Ian.
Ian,
This would be a better idea shooting something larger like a 6mm or 6.5 but legally in Northern Ireland you are not allowed to fox with anything larger than .22 unless you possibly have it passed for deer also on certain land.
So this is the reason why I want a capable .22 of reaching out a bit further when I need to.

Go with the Dasher or 22 BRX, experimenting is fun.
This will upset a lot of 22/250 shooters but it is a inferior cartridge when compared to the 22 BR/BRX or Dasher. Having said that when using them at foxing ranges circa 300 yards it's all immaterial.
Ian,
Yes As you say its fun trying new cartridges. Doesnt matter what cartridge I go with for foxing as you say at realistic ranges inside 300 yards any appropriate rifle will do the job, I just like to have a spare round under the bolt for whatever reason (failure for primer to ignite) this has happened me before. Foxy doesnt hang about for you to find another round in youre pockets. ?

Why not a .22-250 with a 1 in 8 twist?
Nowt wrong with 22-250 but when im paying to go custom I fancy something a bit different with possibly better cartridge design
-
Thanks Vince,
I have narrowed it down to a few possibles,
22br
22 dasher or
22x47 lapua.
I want a mag fed rifle for foxing that doubles up as a good varminter. 75 grain plus bullets are preferred for this rifle
-
Hi everyone,
Anyone shoot this calibre?
Was wondering if its worth the extra work over the standard 22br?
My thinking is that it way mag feed better?
Thanks

Thanks Greg

Who made the stock Andy? Very nice.

Any pics of the customised wierauch Andy?

Foxes are beautiful creatures and should be left alone, I hope some of you shooters kill each other because you deserve it.
Friday night I lost 5 hens because a fox broke into my hens house.
I wont stop until there is a bullet in him!

Just finished a stock conversion to DM on my HS Precision. Gave it a raised comb, modified grip and a new paint job in the process.
The action is a Stiller Predator, barrel is Lothar Walther 24" 1 in 8" twist, Third eye Spartan from Craig, March 2.5-25x42 tac from
Gary Costello, and the rifle was screwed together by Mike Norris. Shoots 120grn Nosler BT's about 1/3 moa and 95vmax's a tad better
depending on whether I'm having an on or off day! (Excuse the angled photo's, photobuckets edit suit doesn't seem to have all the features
of PS7 so I couldn't straighten them out with the crop tool.)

Love the rifle Mike!
That is an excellent setup!!
-
you like these rpa's ! love the stock pattern on the 6x47 rpa
Thanks Jamie,
Yes I have a bit of an rpa fetish lol.
The rifle used to belong to Mike6.5 on here, James clarke painted it for him. Originall barrel was done too but I havent painted it scince rebarelling.

Off the shelf quality an anschutz 1710 dhb is hard to beat but they are getting expensive new now. I have two, one with standard barrel I bought new ten years ago and a second hand one I came across locally that was shabby and I sent to Steve kershaw to rebarrel.
Both are in Staffordshire synthetic stocks.
both will one hole at 50 yards with good ammo.
can’t see a full blown custom being much better tbh, esp when factory ammo is the last piece in the puzzle.
