Wsm
Does anyone have either a Sako 75 or 85 Finlight they can measure I need to know if the barrel is meaty enough to accept a 1/2" x20 unf thread
Mack
I have a .222 Sako 75 threaded 1\2"x20 unf and have never had a problem.
Wsm
Hi Mack I know the 75's can hold that thread but I can't put my hand on a finnlight to see if the barrels are slimmer. I thought the only difference was the fluting but one of the lads in the shop thinks they're a slimmer profile
Guest dasherman
I cannot remember the diameter but I've threaded a few finlights 1/2"x20unf and there is enough to leave a shoulder.

Mack
Oops , didn't read the original post properly, I never realised you were referring to the Finnlight model.
Pip
I have sako 75 finnlight in 6.5x55 that is screwcut 1/2" unf, so it is fine to do them.
deerman
Don't know if this helps in partly answering your question, but I have a Sako 75 in .308 and have a 1/2" x 28tpi thread on it and it has never given me any problems. I know this is not the best thread for that calibre and barrel diameter, but it came like that, so could not do anything. Sako use good quality steel on the barrels, so you should be fine with a 1/2" thread there of any description, within reason of course.
