Winchester Rimfire Ammo

I know not many of us use full power rimmy ammo but their is a product recall due to some of their ammo getting a double charge of powder. Here is the link.

I have a box of half or less charge, barely make it out the end of the barrel! They had an issue some years ago of using the wrong powder and dismembering some rimmys!

Dont use Winchester anymore, I stick with Eley and have no issues myself.

I shot a hundred rounds of Winchester Expert a week, every week without fail from 1985 to 1997 without so much as a hiccup.

If the quality of thier ammo has gone down hill in the last ten years its a shame but does not surprise me.

Accountants running companies again I suppose. How on earth is there room to double charge a rimmy ?. Surely cases need to be pretty full full to avoid an explosion in the cart rather than a burn.

Posted it on all the sites I normally use.

 

In truth I am not sure about the double charge bit, as I am sure that their would not be sufficient space in a Rimfire case for two loads of powder. I suspect it could be a fault with the primer or wrong powder (HMR powder possibly?) I suspect Winchester will keep it close to their chest as to want the actual problem is.
