Raifuru
Can I purchase (all legal like) a used nmoderator that states "30 Cal" on my 6.5 mm moderator slot? I am after a used 18x1 and found one but now not sure if I can purchase it.
MrCetrizine
The mods on my FAC state either rimfire or centrefire. There's no specific calibre listed so if yours are the same then yes you can.
gbal
There isn't complete uniformity in FAC wording- you get what you ask for. If your certificate authorises purchase of a "6.5" moderator, just check with your FLO a marked "30" cal moderator is ok-if it isn't it's an easy one for one. The issue arises because some shooters ask for a specific eg "6.5 rifle and mod",and get it;some manufacturers do not make (every) calibre specific moderators (as in "up to 308");some certificates just say eg "30 cal mod"and "223" mod and don't match up to specific rifles.Any mix of these needs clarification sometimes-an easy ask A larger calibre moderator will work OK,not quite so efficiently, perhaps,on a smaller calibre rifle-but a phone call will establish your position, from FLO perspective.Easily sorted if required. gbal
