Barrels

Depends on what you want the rifle to do.

A long barrel (28"+) will give you the edge if you are looking to squeeze extra velocity for long range.

For field use, a shorter barrel will be more convenient especially if you want to use lighter bullets. IMHO it sounds like time to go to a more efficient chambering like .260 for an all round advantage.

Fluting looks nice but improved heat dispersal will be minimal unless flutes are deep. May as well get a lighter barrel if you want to save weight.

Fluting, looks good. May help cool faster. Lighter barrel/stiffness ratio

Length, all depends on application. 20" too short for 1000 yds, 30" too long for fox shooting out of a landrover.

+1 on every point. 260, barrel length to purpose, fluting to taste (barley twist has been flavour of month for bolts).
