  1. Just read the brochure again , it says 3posn side safety , so maybe the photo is right , I thought ONLY 2 types , 3posn bolt & 2posn side safety , looks like a 3rd type , 3posn side safety ?

Confused maybe , not confused on what colour I want , DE

  2. Hi ,

I have a couple of AIs , AW 308 , and a AX338 , I have a AT & AX308 coming already , COVID delay , Like the look of the AXSR/AX MKIII , just trying to get a better handle on the specs of each , as I can get either a MKIII or AXSR , the photo in AI 2020 brochure shows a 2posn safety , But the words say 3posn safety , in short the photo does not match the description ?

Thanks for the AX rail info .

The non-bedded aspect , maybe or maybe not , seemed important when AI did IT , But they have said they have never bedded the 50 BMGs ? , so may not be as important or similar to benchrest round bottoms , as AI use square bottom and more bolts , 4 over just 2 ?, more bolts , more square precise bottom matting surfaces , may right in no real need ?

I am more concerned over the bolt & receiver being totally changed over the AX338/AXMC , the receiver has been substanically lightened & the bolt is changed ? , I hope this has no negative impact on the smooth cycling ? , as the AX338 has been a super smooth rifle in 338LM , and I presume so has the AXMC .

    Cheers  Chris

  3. Yeah , Still confused , as in  the AI brochure 2020 , it shows a " AX MKIII " , with what looks like a 2 posn ASR/AXSR  ambi safety , then in writing says " 3 posn safety " , and its doesn't mean if not in the USA , I will get the MKIII , I could always import one from the USA .

Its as clear as MUd , to me right now .

Whats in the brochure I like , just unsure what I will get once ordered ?

Things , I donot want , a stupid weak , non-flush MLok handguard , let the Yanks have that .

Also donot want a small muzzle thread interface , on a magnum cal gun , the yanks can have the silly small 5/8 dia .

5/8 is OK on smaller dia barrels and non magnum cals as far as I am concerned .

RE the trigger , donot know enough about either the Comp or STD trigger to know whats best for field use ?

In reguards the bolt 3posn or the stock 2posn ambi , donot know whats Best , I have heard that the rifle cycles smoother on the stock 2posn safety for some reason .

    Cheers  Chris

  4. SO whats the story with these , seem so similar , that one will replace the other , like VHS / Beta ? , so which is going to be  the ONE , I know the AXSR is USA only , and the AX MKIII is the rest of the World ?

Anyone have info on this  ?

    Cheers  Chris

  5. They are VERY light in weight , I know the designer , all the AI rifles on the website are mine , I think I was the 1st person to ever fire a 3d printed TI suppressor on a 338LM rifle , I use them on my AIs , they are made to go on the newer large 2 chamber AI Tac muzzle breaks ,  and use 2 slightly spaced hi-temp orings to keep the can in place , I use them in 308,300 & 338LM , as well as a QD 308 model on a hunting rifle .

They use sound meter that has a fast rise time to get correct readings & actually calibrate for temp as well .

  6. I used WD40 a lot on my rifles for yrs , sprayed a heap on them after cleaning , remember I live in New Zealand , and its very wet & cold here , and I wanted to protect my blued rifles .

I noticed that it turned into a varnish like goo over time , and also dis- coloured bare metal , like bolts , so I stopped using it , and went to 556 , it dosnt appear to turn into hard varnish in long term storage like WD40 does .

Also , at the same time , a guy on this board , said something like it is banned from use around TI metal in aircraft engines as it starts micro cracking of the metal .

So I stopped using it yrs ago .

  7. Just dropped a couple , 113yds & 198yds , with 1710 22lr , had 25 moa for the 198yd , and was 25moa + 2 mildots to get to 260 , at 260 , was close enough to scare them into moving ON .

At 198-260yds , did notice that they would still sit around for 4-5 shots before flying off , so subsonic ammo & no suppressor , still quite enough at 200+ yds to not spook them right away .

I did notice , that I need to make drop table in smaller incraments , than the 25yd spacing , as out past 150 to 175 I had 7moa between them , will try 10yd spacing on the distance , see how that works .

  8. Its been my veiw that the tough / hard grades of SS are less rust restitant than than the table ware 440 , maybe there is a Super SS , that I have not seen in a knife , I am obviouly wrong in this .

    Maybe?

Even if NOT , my comment on the cost of some of these wonders does stand , are main weapons are firearms , until we all get laser rifles , and I will take a firearm over any bladed weapon .

Opps , and even if it does rust , you know what , I bet that knife will still be OK to cut that which promotes growth and vigour , when you are long dead .

  9. What a load of dribble , some of you guys have turned into a bunch of girls , to me I prefer a non SS , as they capable of holding an edge better , and you know what , knife is for cutting , so better edge is where it is for me ,

As to rusting , its not a bloody big GPMG , its a small simple shape , either wipe a bit of oil on it now & then , or paint it .

Also , to be it has to be value for money , because at the end of the day its still just a knife , its not a pistol , rifle or shotgun .

So when price gets to be close to the price of a Glock , ie 250 GBP , its crazy , so for same money , I can have a Glock or a rambo knife , MMmmmm , which will I chose , hint it isn't the knife .

So much over 30-50 GBP , and its way way over priced for me .

  10. The reason , I was asking is both the Sako & the AW are double stack & double feed mags , even my Badger 2008 has one feed ramp , but its wide enough to use both AICS & AW mags etc .

Some one needs to make a alloy bottom metal for the Sako 75/85 to use the AW mag , or Sako needs to make cheaper longer mags ?

Which do you think is most likely to happen , Sako/Beretta lower mag prices OR some one make a reasonable bottom metal ?

    YEAP , I am not betting on Sako/Beretta .

    Later Chris

  11. I have been thinking about how a Sako 75 would work with AW 10rd mags , wether or not it would be a viable conversion or not .

Any one have both a AW & Sako 75/85 mag to see how much the differ , and if it is close enough to being able to work .

  12. As I think the 22LR suits subsonic ammo & being suppressed as well ( as the rimfire is not a real high velocity cal as far as I am concerned ) , and having said that , I actually favour a 12 inche barrel as being more than long enough for this cal .

The main reason for the 16 inche is thats the minimium legal lenght in the USA , If they could with go shorter legally , they probably would .
