I indirectly know a Stuart Pemberton that is probably the same one you are asking about.  I also know someone that may still be in contact with him.  If you want to PM me your name and a contact number I can pass it on?

    Thanks David

  2. Evening all. I’m trying to locate a chap called Stuart Pemberton. He’s ex army of some description and lives in Wilts, possibly Warminster/Salisbury area. Member on SD and possibly here too. Nothing contentious, I just need to contact him and he’s dropped off the face of the earth. Anyone know him or point me in the right direction please?

  3. For sale, p94s varmint with lots of extras. It has two barrels. One a spotter thAt has been shortened to c 14 inches and wears an ASE rim fire mod. The other is the varmint at standard length with an unknown mod. 3 10 round mags, 1 5 round. Billet floorplate and jnp Allen key action screws plus a slide on picatinney rail. It has been deacon bedded. Steel thumbscrew mounts and a tasco golden antler scope. Anyone buying can have the remaining eley and rws that I have. Probably around 500rds.

Asking £625 for the lot and it has to go as one lot. Great for someone wanting a trainer.

    cheers

  4. I had the rifle built originally. It was in 6mm rem ackley. The action was new from Macleods as they used to import actions only a long time ago. Steve spent a long time trying that action. If you look closely at the bolt it has been sleeved and trued for less slop.

It went to a friend in the south west who used it successfully for culling for quite a while.

  5. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the gs custom bullets in 30-06? If so, what weight are you using? Up to 150s look suitable but it might help me not to waste components if someone has already tried 130s/140s/150s.

    Cheers

  6. I have the svord peasant for the last 3 years living in my hunting trousers pocket, whether I'm beating, walking the dogs, hunting, shooting, used in any weather condition, for any task and not kept particularly well. It is still without a spot of rust, and sharper than I would like to admit (being an admirer of stainless steel knives...). True, carbon knives may patina and will need a good wipe after being used, but that's it...It will take a lot of neglect for any knive to rust, and, if I'm to be honest, if you are to neglect a knife that badly, then it is your fault :). There's a lot of hype about carbon steel knives, but it has to be said that they are easy to sharpen, useful in the field and not as easy to rust as most people think. My next knife will be either the Anza Boddington or the Svord 1990NZ2 (or both :))

    best wishes,

Giving rise to the phrase 'have you seen my new knife?'

  7. How to Bone a Deer.....

What about the Wheel Barrow and KY method

Or have I been doing it wrong all these years

Glad you said it. Best not to add 'Old'...

Mind you, there's plenty of instructional videos on that subject ontintyweb under 'Milf' :-)

  8. Signal crayfish are to our native crayfish what the grey squirrel is to the red.

Anyone any experience of cooking and eating them?

Yes, ate loads of them when in Suffolk. You ought to purge them before boiling them though as otherwise there is potential for nasties in their gut. Some signal males are pretty big so tailor your cooking times to them (i.e 5 mins or so for the bigger guys. They go nicely red when cooked as do crabs etc. Eat like you would lobster or langoustine etc

One of my favourites. A longhorn bull, cow and calf in a wild flower meadow brimming with meadowsweet, vetches, thistles, buttercup etc etc. A farmers nighmare but you could hardly move for the insect life. The bull was a fair old boy.

That's what I was trying to do! It's a blimmin big flower. Magnolia grandiflora in State Capitol Park, Sacramento. The flowers smell like lemons. Lovely things grow to about 15m tall and about as wide with big leathery leaves.

This is one of a couple of poor quality staggies taken about 1/2 mile from a large town on an ex pit tip. There are now no stags with the group at all let alone any poor quality ones.

Pic is not good quality as was taken on full zoom with an early compact super zoom about four years ago.

    Regards
