  1. Hi Guys
Using a mil scope with 0.1 mil adjustments.
If you try to zero at 100m's and your rounds group .5cm off centre. How do you true for dead centre as 1 click will take you .5cm in the opposite direction. Not much of a problem at that distance but at 500m it will be 2.5 cm off if I am doing my calculations correctly. Which will probably affect any ballistic calculator.
Does this indicate something wrong somewhere? Or is it the limitation of the coarser mil system?
3 round groupings where 0.234 and .287 MOA

  2. Hi VarmLR

Thank you for your input. I tried refitting the mount backwards and it made no difference to the horizontal which was a surprise. I expected it to go the other way and it didn't. I then tried mounting it further forward on the rail and have clawed back an extra 10 clicks. Nothing on the rail to indicate why this has happened. I have now decided that I can live with the amount I now have. The Tic Tac is shooting at less than 1/2 MOA at 1000 yards so I am happy with that.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Some mounts are indexed and they need to be on the right way.

I've got some I think are CPS rings.

The bottom half and the top half has a mark on it that match and should go together.

They may work the other but may change there line to bore axis....

    Just a thought...... 😉

Thanks for giving it some more thought. There are no markings that I can see that would suggest indexing the tops of the mounts. It's looks like I will not be able to get to the bottom of this.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Recently at our club a member had exactly the same problem with this exact same rifle.

He setup had his scope with one mount on the integrated rifle picatinny rail and the front mount on the fore rail. He couldn't zero his rifle.

We removed scope with mounts complete and fitted to the integrated picatinny rail. Zeroing achieved in 3 rounds.

I wonder it this is your problem?

    Thank

    Hi 1in8twist

Alas the mounts are only on the rail and do not go onto the forend picatinny  rail.

  5. I have again tried the mirror method seems direct sunlight is better than 2 spot lights. The results are with scope 1 it is perfect both mechanical zero and optical zero are the same. Scope 2 is off by 3 clicks to the right from mechanical zero.
What now comes into play. Is why there is 20 clicks difference in the same 1 piece mount between scopes 1 and 2 if the only error between scopes is 3 clicks right ? Or is there something else that I am not factoring in.

    🤣😂.

Shooting in 25mph winds from 1000yds and its extremely difficult,I've done it once and it's a waste of ammo 🌬🌬🌬.

There are plenty of scopes out there that have alot of windage but Alot have reticles that will give you the option of an extra 10 plus minutes if you really wish to shoot in such windy conditions..

    Good luck with that....

    No I deer 😁💋

See you can give advice without coming across as a complete

I cant really see the point of this exercise !!!!!

    It is what it is.....

What's the most windage you've ever shot with dialled in which may make this relevant

    No I deer

The point is I don't know how much windage I may need. Strelok states in a 25mph wind at 90 degrees at 1100 yards I need 6.8 mils left therefor I am 2.4 mils short of adjustment.

Forgive me for not running this question by you before I posted. I now understand if it's not relevant to you then it has no place being asked.
