These type of scams are quite common. they require 3 things to be successful.
1, a scammer.
2, an internet connection.
3, a high level of stupidity.
everyone here has at least of of the above.

BBC and factual in the same sentance now there is a leap of faith
That's as far as I got, I couldn't go any further.

The general public have become a somewhat easily led bunch, especially by the gutter press, who can report on anyone in such a positive way their popularity soars,, and then equally in an instant, destroy them.
news / media, isn't about "fact" anymore, its careful and calculated manipulation of the masses to prevent them from thinking for themselves.
and of course those who stand to gain the most from this phenomenon can feed the media the appropriate information to achieve almost any ends, good or bad.

Put ethics aside? No, that's not how a civilised person should work is it?
Your "cute little animals" comment is crass; cute or not is irrelevant to me but not irrelevant to the general public whom you do need to get on side. Best of luck with your tactic. If it comes to a proposal to ban game shooting I won't worry about any ban rolling over into target shooting until there's an actual proposal to counter. I can't support the narrow interest group you clearly do support however I will lend my voice to support general vermin control and wild hunting as I've said previously (for the little it's worth).
OK, we are now going around in circles so I'm done on this subject. Thanks to Sauer for sharing an intelligent opposing view, it certainly promoted me to review evidence.
boy you sure do read and add some sh1# into a simple post, do you get some sort of kick out of being a thrush.

I think that was explained: My ethics preclude supporting the rearing and shooting of birds as sporting targets. What your ethical stance maybe, is your business, I suspect it's different to mine and that's ok by me. I'll say it again ad-nauseam: why "must" I support the game-bird shooting industry just because I have a FAC/SGC? I reject the simplistic logic of "all standing together", it's not an effective strategy when foolish language is used to denigrate opposing views
So putting ethics to one side for the moment,,
do you think if game shooting were to be legislated out of existence your discipline would be allowed to carry on regardless?
and perhaps more to the point do you think you could defend it were it threatened
by similar legislation.? you really think because the cute little animals aren't getting killed its all gonna be just dandy? perhaps you should think back to the banning of pistols as an example.

fair point, but surely a robust debate is good? It confirms or refines our beliefs. Echo chambers are for snowflakes that need a 'safe space' to all agree in😉
"robust debate" can be good indeed, however reading some posts it's hard to believe some people here actually possess any guns.
surely a compliment on fine accuracy makes for a better discussion than arguing over the type of target.
the choice of paper or varmint as quarry should not ideally drive a wedge between disciplines no more than choice of which hat to wear.

not wishing to show preference to either side here,,, but given the name of this forum it seems a strange dialog within at times.

Well said David.
All this holier than thou bullshit gets tiresome.
Each to their own ! Growing up in Ireland I thought I had experienced sectarianism..........then I became a shooter in the UK and realised I had seen nothing yet !
90% of my shooting is competitive, be it CSR or the NRA run matches a few times per year. The rest is vermin and deer stalking. I dont particularly enjoy "plinking" but would not dream of looking down on those who enjoy it. Or claiming that my way of enjoying my hobby is superior / is "Gods way" :-/
Crack on and enjoy your shooting - be it unsupported or off a bipod, 100 yards or 1000 yards, F-class or CSR, airsoft or airgun, camo or leather etc etc etc
And if you have nothing good to say about your fellow shooters choice of shooting, how about saying nothing at all !!

Why don't we all start fighting amongst ourselves? After all it isn't as if anybody else is out to get us! Let people do what they enjoy. I mean if you are a stalker the plan is to get reasonably close anyway. As long as people are safe, have fun I say.
David.
until I saw this post I really thought I had stumbled on a bit of banter between mates, if I'm wrong then this is a post I have to agree 100%. so many shooting folk willing to throw other disciplines "under the bus", maybe brexit got everyone fired up for a bit of "dick swinging"

your friend got burned, that has all the details of a scam that's been around for a good while now. I'll bet Francis was asked,, to "Reach out" to some guy who had just what he was looking for. sent his cash and will never hear anything ever again.
