  1. no more satisfying shot than magpies!!

have a one man vendetta on the population behind my house

as a result we now have a plethora of small bird species

the bastards still get a few chicks when I drop my watch though!

shot one the other day, left it out to bring in some more and was astounded when a herring gull dropped on it within 30 seconds and ripped it to shreds!!

  2. Soak them well and ideally only cook the tails

The bodies tend to turn the water yellow/brown and can taint the flesh

Only worth eating the tails anyway

Personally I would soak, cut the tails off and shell them and use them like a fresh prawn.

Catch as many of the bastewards as you can

Used to work for the NRA/EA and I don't know any licensing people who would ever prosecute anyone for trapping or catching

  3.

What rifle were you using bewsh and what were the conditions like?

Sako Quad, newly chopped to 12.5"

    6x44 Nikko scope

roughly 50yds off rolled up rifle sleeve on roof of car

fairly still day, nothing of note

was doing it to check a cheap replacement scope as one had died on me rather than bench rest groups

whizzed through them fairly quickly as I was short on time!

bottom left target is me walking it to zero

bottom right is actually two groups (line splits them) as I changed zero to centre them

CCI segmented ammo has never been good in that rifle, very tight to chamber and mediocre accuracy

RWS is a good round, smelly, but accurate, I stuck with WinSubs as no-one round here stocks RWS!

  4. I have a Sako

the WMR was my go to urban fox rifle for golf and rugby clubs for years

no idea how many I have shot, lots, all within a 120yds I would say

accuracy is like any rimfire...ammo dependant

regardless of rising ammo costs it is still well under any centre fire round. I paid £15 a 100 last time for 33gr Reming Accu-tip

it will shoot ragged holes at 100yds, never been too worried by wind as you will be shooting under the 150yd mark

will drop a fox to a boiler room shot, might make it a few yards but my longest runner was around 20yds

moved to a .222 when all the stupid ones had been shot and i wanted a dual purpose deer and fox round

    still use it

    fun to shoot
