I started watching , but lost interest when the discussion was about the differences between artillery shells effectively laying in the bottom of the bore and cartridge based bullets being held in the bore by the cartridge case. Then all the talk of computer modelling etc down to the point of accounting for jacket wear in the course of the bullets travel in the barrel. Too much deviation from the central point of the subject for me. 
 

In the real world I first tried a tuner having found that on a new barrel putting a magnetospeed on halved the group size, had one of the early Cortina tuners fitted to the barrel and undoubtedly it made a difference , in terms of group size, shape of group and poi. 
 

Not had a barrel since that produced such repeatable results as that first try. But as i’ve got them i don’t see any harm in fitting them and generally they do alter poi and group size to a degree. But they don’t improve an already good load. As for moving it outside of a load development session , i’d have no idea which way to go during a comp.
 

Being totally unscientific and based solely on my experiences, the tuners effect seemed much greater on a 7/270 and a straight 284. On the 300wsm not so much. ( until the day i shot a detail with the tuner loose and had no understanding of what was going on till i discovered it after).

Of those that listened to the whole video,  would I be right in thinking they were leading upto the conclusion that  a decent barrel, good components, well developed load and carefully produced ammo were far more important factors than the tuner, which wouldn’t be able to cope with variances in ammo anyway?

If you fancy dipping your toe, the phoenix has an fclass comp in it , both at long and short range, you can do both in one day , which is a lot of shooting in one day and in the past has been good value for money.

Thats interesting, my last foray with the electronics (intarsos) was a disaster, subsequently identified as being due to a perished membrane. I then asked that seeing as all the intarsos had been fully rebuilt around the 3rd quarter of 2022, would it not be safe to assume that all the intarsos were likely to fail in the same manner. I didn’t really get much of a heartening response. 
It would appear that information relayed to you from the range office supports my assumption. Hopefully now that the NRA knows that the membranes fail after about 9 months , going forward they’ll order spares accordingly, surely the loss of target hire whilst awaiting spares would offset the expense of holding spares. 

Are those affected using an ipad that had a recent software upgrade? My issues seem to be since then , same as above

I’ve an elderly relative that lives a little isolated and alone. Of late has been concerned about torch light around their home. A few enquiries locally have revealed that there is a local ne’er do well that goes out at night to steal firewood ( said relative has their firewood seasoning in two barns, and it’s been going down  faster than usual). Having contacted the police the impression is that they know its a problem but without any proof won’t get involved in any way.  Loss of the firewood is something we could put up with but the distress it’s causing is not.

So i need some sort of trailcam or similar , ideally working off the mobile network ( wifi in house won’t cover the area in question) , they could be mains powered from the outbuildings. Remote monitoring/ alerts are needed as i live 6 hours away. Any suggestions  or recommendations

There was iirc a notice from the NRA asking shooters to hold back on replying to the consultation until they (nra) had compiled and published it’s intended response. Only 3 weeks until the consultation closes, have i missed something from the NRA ? Last i saw was a survey asking for more information a while back.

I shot a barrel with the 180 scenar l , n165 was by far the best powder and achieved. 2920 fps.  So may well be worth a try.

Would seem odd if an affiliated club member with an SSC can’t use the zero range, not least because it’s effectively a safety / good practice issue. Given that if you miss the board twice you should retire from the point and check your zero , additionally the NRA blames lots of the problems with electronics on those whose zero is insufficient to hit the aiming area and damage occurs to the frame/electronics on occasion.

The only reason i can see is that the club hasn’t booked the zero range and had it allocated by the NRA and as such when the club signs in they’ve not effectively declared they’ll have an RCO available  at the zero range. 

IIRC questionnaire the NRA put out was the initial response to concerns raised by the MOD after there had been incidents involving reloaded ammunition. 
Once the concern has been raised the NRA has to do something, gathering information will no doubt guide what happens next.

Much like the HME rules we now have, concerns were raised and a procedure devised that satisfied those concerns and allowed things to continue. ( you need HME on your SSC and do an HME card each time you visit the range). 
 

Surely much better that its the NRA that puts something in place than have the MOD make a decision.

If you go the Labradar route , then a recoil trigger is nigh on a must, not missed a shot since i started using one and alignement is much less critical.

My last service was done by Robin Martin and Partners in Portsmouth, you get to speak to the man that does the work and i was happy with what he did. They are an approved repairer.

However Omega are going towards the Rolex model of approved repairers only being able to buy spares and pretty much fixed price. If you go to the Omega site there’ll be a list of those approved.

The first service I had done was by  a non approved chap (i later found out) made a complete pigs ear of it.

Never had a problem with hermes , but Parcel Force are a joke beyond belief , impossible to speak to a human and the automated redelivery service ( required as they tried to deliver 4 hours before the notified time) is little more than a random number generator totally unconnected to any part of their delivery system. 

I’d guess it’s an attempt to get maximum range use with minimum number of staff, allowing them to keep the max number on furlough. Though surely it wouldn’t take a great deal of effort to spread the electronics onto alternate firing points.
