gunner
hey folks , i have leaned two days ago that unfortunately the manufacturer Retay , Ekol , Ceonic & Blow blank guns or rifs as there sometime called looks like they are now illegal in the uk , certain 'Top venting pistols' have been converted in recent years buy a few idiots somewhere in the uk - chester maybe i think i read - and its buggered all the genuine collectors re enactors etc . im assuming its not just the top venting but also side venting too but im trying to confirm this in the next day or two as i have 6x different types , one an ekol major ( ppk style side venting all black - quite a lovely replica ) there is an amnesty on them i should mention that permits owners to hand them in before febuary 28th 2025 . if like me your not sure but would like to keep 1 or 2 before you hand them over you could hand them to an rfd to be safe , until its confirmed . exactly which models they are . ideally the NCA nation crime agency need to put out a proper list of make and models affected - that are convertible to live basically . it was blind luck that i seen something on utube on it or else it could be 10 years . So if your not sure i would either hand them in or RFD them until its more clear as i dont want to rid of 1 especially hard to obtain one but will of course if it has to go . there is NO COMPENSATION AT ALL . - not a surprise tbh . Please could this be pinned so hopefully ppl that may be affected can see this and not miss it etc . many thanks gunney
Popsbengo
check this out: https://www.countryside-alliance.org/resources/news/home-office-offers-amnesty-for-some-blank-firing-pistols#:~:text=The Home Office has ruled, and therefore illegal under legislation. https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/news/amnesty-to-be-held-for-blank-firing-guns-popular-with-organised-criminals
Mattnall
Apparently, no compensation as they have always been illegal (readily/easily convertible), just not recognised as such so allowed to be imported and sold, and because of that they are allowing an amnesty period in February next year (but you can hand them in early is you like 🤔). gunner
see what cracks me up is in that link you have posted pops they are calling them firearms at least twice when there not live firing , only if they are converted . To add , if these criminals are hell bent on making live firing guns you can do it with not much experience at all and basic tools , just look what places like india cook up . not to mention all the home made guns around the world . a single shot deringer style is soo simple to make its crazy . Or you could just use a knife or car , poison etc . wonder what will possibly happen to airguns need to be locked as i understand , see in my eyes responsible collectors re enactors (of replics) / fac & sgc owners like me should be allowed them if there kept in secure safe and secure . On another note the manufacturer Bruni have quite a line up but were never quite as good quality grade metal ( zink alloy ) compared to ekol / retay ( harder steel ) etc . Maybe in the future the banned ones could be made with similar grade to make it not viable and therefore legal again . I will keep my finger crossed . it did say also there will be more info nearer the time . so hope to god not all blank guns are banned completely . Im also wondering how company's that hire out a whole range of replics to Film / producers etc will they all have the same ban on them i wonder ? Even if they were registered as an RFD they cant hire them out surly to film makers / directors etc ? When filming in this country i mean . atb . Section 12 of the Firearms Act cover this and it will not be an issue. They can have full-auto and other generally prohibited weapons, so this will not affect them.
