bobthenailer Posted February 25, 2023 Report Share Posted February 25, 2023 Dave at Valkyrie Rifles made me a new .308 barrel for my AI… I wanted a short fast twist barrel specifically for shooting non lead projectiles. On the recommendation of the owner of Vertus Precision I opted for a 1/9 twist 18” from chamber to muzzle. Dave managed to locate a Bartlin blank and machined, painted and proofed it in just a few weeks 👍 The workmanship is absolutely top notch as expected by Dave, he was extremely welcoming when I collected the barrel and checked the headspace on my action. Due to work, waterlogged ranges etc it has taken me a few weeks to zero and run a few rounds through it. All I can say is that it is definitely a shooter! The picture 5 Rds at 100 metres and is the FIRST group that I shot with it. 140GN Vertus Eagle. seems to be suitable for this barrel 😃 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Used it this evening to cull a Sika Hind, fantastic terminal performance, It’s by no means a hot load at 2625fps but the Vertus Eagle will reliably expand and very low impact velocities.
