Hi folks looking for a bit of advice

il soon be getting a .284 win built on a tikka t3 ,it’s got a 24” barrel and throated long ,

no neck turn

the lad I’m getting it off used Norma brass but I can’t find any for sale ,choices I’ve got are between Winchester and lapua .

also looking to load 162 gn bullets and powders I’ve got already which might suit are

N160

rs62

reloader 16

Norma mrp

most of the load data I can find is for short actions

any help would be appreciated on brass and best powder

What 162gr bullet.

Amax,ELD or Eldx's.

I've not use 162gr ELDM's but I use 180 grainers.

My 284 is on a T3 action.

I used N165 on the Amaxs I think 56.5 or 57grs.. about 2850fps.

RS60 would take it too 3000fps

Moved too N160 for 162gr ELDX'S s about 2900fps on 54.8grs I think.

My barrel is 26 inch.

Use lapua brass

That’s perfect thanks for that , il try stick with n160 to save barrel ,if I can get close to you 2900 then that’ll be perfect 👍

Not decided on what bullet yet ,have read  the eldx can be a little hard in 7mm ?
will also work up a load with 130 gr tlr from yew tree as the 80 gn version are very good in my 6xc

The 162gr amaxs could be a bit harsh of roe under 250yds.

That's why I switched too eldx's..

I've not shot many deer since with the eldx's and the ones I did I head shot..

Definitely less explosive..

I've not tried any of Richards bullets yet..

Not hunting much these days
