Richiew
Hi there my standard tikka mag has very little wobble and the WR Mags are much the same although the 6 round mag is less wobbly than the ten round one poss due to being shorter . The six round WR mag is 4 mm shorter than the standard tikka mag . I did square up the magazine spring to make sure there’s max tension on the rear of the mag when I put in the timney two stage trigger . You’ll need a small adjustable spanner and an Allen key to slacken the trigger front mount bolt off and use the adjustable spanner to clamp the spring at 90 degrees to the body as you nip up the Allen bolt . Hope this makes sense. Cheers
One on top of two
Are you testing your 73 grain loads today Richie ? be interested to know how you got on 👍
Richiew
Sorry but it’ll be next week sometime or Saturday at catterick ranges . Also got some 178 ELD m’s on order for the 308 . I’ll keep you informed with the results. They do look great tho in a bullet porn type of way lol . L to r 52 Amax , 55 Berger target, 60 Berger varmint, 70 Berger vld , 73 Berger btt, 73 hornady ELD m . Vld s we’re best at ten thou jump. All are pretty much same point of impact at 112 yards so don’t play too much fiddling with the zero . Happy days
Richiew
Hi one on top of two went out tonight to do some testing, with the eldm 73 grainers, excellent accuracy at 115 yards and find poi is 0.2 mil high compared to my other bullets so better bc etc does make a difference. Shot a rabbit with 55 g gameheads then tried the ELD m on the carcass with dramatic results. Very very pleased , thanks for the recommendation. These might be the ideal load for all discipline s . Would like to standardise instead of having loads for separate jobs. lll put up FPS results when available. Cheers Rich
One on top of two
did you get any more data on the 73gr ? what sort of MV ?
Richiew
Was on a foxing job but he spotted me first as I wasn’t expecting the new route he took . So didn’t have the magneto with me but on steel they were hit on hit . Need to take the slik tripod and get very steady to check accuracy properly and get the speed . Just need some good weather. This was the group of five plus one for scale with the 308 yesterday at catterick , 155.5 Berger s . 185 juggernaut were the same so shot ten and kept 40 for best . 185s although slower we’re also .3 mil higher than the 155s so slow and heavy does win the race . 185 are doing 2650 and 155s 2824 FPS . I’ll try Wednesday for some speed s . Have a good weekend cheers
gunner
interesting read , although i don't shoot 223 atm , my first center fire was a 12 twist r700 and my go to bullets were 50/55 blitzkings , i didn't shoot that many foxes but those that i did were always head shots and they never exited ! spot on for me
Richiew
No fox tonight and weather was dodgy so another week with no speed info for the 223 reloads . 73 elds are very very accurate and explode rabbit s and pigeons so well happy with the results. Got rained off by 8-30 . Waiting for the wheat to be cut . Tikka t3x 1-8” shoots everything well from 52g Amax to 73 grain Berger and hornady eldms . One on top of two
Richie , im going to have a Couple of foxing sessions with my 6.5 CM TRG this weekend instead of my .223 just for a change , I normally like to use Berger classic Hunter which shoots like a laser , but I have found just under half a box of 140 ELD so I will load them up and give them a go 👍👍
Richiew
Just looked up the bergers and they certainly look very good and have excellent BC . I’ll try to get speeds done soon , think the wildcat mod is same size as accuracy international one so the magneto speed should fit all ok . Have a good time with the trg. Cheers Rich
One on top of two
Rich , your magneto speed will go on a wildcat no problem .

Richiew
Sako factory 55g game heads av 3058 FPS , sd 28 , es61 . berger 55g fb match av 3017 , sd22, es 53, with 24 grain n135 . hornady 73eldm av 2702 . Sd 13.8 , es 34 . 22 grain n135 . berger 73 btt av 2674. Sd 11.8, es 27 . 22grain n135 . hornady 52 Amax av 3144 , sd 12.4 , es 25 . 24.5 grain n135 . Not quite as good as expected even though the accuracy is very good . Need to go up a bit more in speed to find a better node . Richiew
That’s what I was thinking. Been looking at the Berger manual and hornady 9th edition and Vihtavuori web page so can go up a bit more . 11 th edition hornady manual on order for bday prezzie . 25 grain of n135 on the Berger 60 s did mark the head with ejector mark so will drop that half a grain. The others can come up a bit . 55s +•5 and the heavies + 1 grain. Then try again. Just added my info into StrelokPro so got some better info . Still managed an easy shot on bunny at 208 yards with the 52 g Amax . How did trg go ?? cheers
One on top of two
I think your n135 may be a tad fast for the ELDs a slower powder would be better for the heavier, I found the N140 a bit slower and does the job if you want to stick with Vihtavuori 👍 the TRG went very well ….. a little too well 😂 I found some RS60 and made up 15 rounds , I had one Fox , there’s no way I can post the pic but rest assured they were very humane. they were 143 grain ELD x and where popping out the end at 2850 FPS which is a handy MV . Richiew
Nice bit of kit . Yep totally agree n135 might be a bit quick for the heavies . 140 could be a better bet or n540 as a nearer to the rs52 burn rate . Will keep playing and get the best from what’s available. The 135 works well with 155 s in 308 cal . So I’ve got some spare to use up . Similar to imr 4895 so 135 should do the job according to the loading manual s . Going to use up my lighter bullets and concentrate on the heavies . Thanks for the recommendation and I’ll keep the info coming for the rest of the guys using these bullets . Glad to share info. cheers Rich not got a problem with speed but need the consistency, powder weights done on an AandD 120 lab scale so I know it’s not powder problems. Just want the magic number where it all goes spot on !!!!
Richiew
Like the look of your scope so looked it up on optics warehouse, very nice indeed. Lovely clear numbers on the turrets . And with a free spuhr mount at the moment. Enjoy the weekend
Richiew
Just for info , loaded the remaining 52 g Amax s at 24.5 grain of n135 and it’s a slight crunch so a bit compressed. The amax are rather blunt fronted and need to be well in the case to get the proper cbto length this also happens with the 168 grain 308” bullets but not the 155s ?? . Saami spec worked best for the 155s with 43grain of n135 . Cheers

Enjoy the weekend yes its a beautiful piece of glass and getting harder to get hold of too . its the Z Comp 527 its getting quite a following in the states on the PRS scene . I have a swaro X5I S&B PM11 Kahles K525i Leupold Mk 5 HD and acouple of PST gen 2 ,and yes while there all very good in there own ways and all very good in certain situations and lighting conditions the Z comp does it all and beats the all in everyway . Hands down best glass I’ve owned . they only make 2 scopes ... thats it https://www.zcompoptic.com/
Richiew
Latest info on the 73 grain hornady ELD. Shot at fox 74 yards and hit square on through the bib = no exit . Hit side on at 123 yards and a small entry hole and about 1-1/2” exit hole . Both went down instantly . Also very good on hares . Very little wind drift at 150 yards even with 10plus mph crosswind . Basically aim dead on and jobs done . Hope to try some RS 52 or n540 and get some more speed but very happy with the performance. Richiew
6 minutes ago, Richiew said: Thanks for the info I have tried n540 in .25 steps from 22.5G to 23.5 and all went very well . At 2.26” coal for 73 grain Berger the max case for sako brass is 24.6 grains of n540 so will load some more up to that recipe. Best accuracy at 22.5 and 23.5 so far. Same point of impact as before using n135 so presume I’m in the 2700 FPS ballpark. cheers Rich No pressure signs so still moving up the load . Most of the info I’ve seen quoted is up at 105% max case fill for top level of case fill . cheers
