Lots of people still use them, they are just not "The Thing" at the moment. 270W seemed to me to become popular as shot relatively fast and flat for highlands stuff. Now of course MPBR isn't seen as cool and the thing is a 6.5Creedmore or such which you play around with clicky-clicky turrets. Also, the 270W is long action and with the "extra weight" and "longer bolt throw" and "less rigid action" mean of course they are completely unusable by any self respecting shooter today...
