scallopdiver Posted February 9, 2021 Report Share Posted February 9, 2021 Hello Men I am thinking of getting a s/h remmy 700 in .222,i have always wanted to own a 700 bdl ,there was a brilliant photo of one in my collection of gun digests from the 80's that put me on the path,i have owned sako,tikka,and cz in .222 and they were all great rifles but the time has come for the bdl I have a chance of one that is supposed to be in great order but i am having trouble getting its year of manufacture,i dont want one of the poorer quality guns that were made before and after the take over Serial no is e6609219 and the letter over the proof is either a single f or ff I know some of the learned gentlemen who use this site will be able to give me a conclusive answer Many thanks in advance William Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SchmidtP3 Posted February 10, 2021 Report Share Posted February 10, 2021 The 'e' one seems strange. According to Remington site, the 700 in .222 Rem was made in 1962 and 1993. The .222 Rem Mag in 1962 -68. https://www.remington.com/firearm-history/model-700-history The 'e' serial number was used in 1984 and 2010 (and in 1958, but that is before the 700 was invented). https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/ It might be worth emailing Remington directly to help you with this.
