deadcenter
Hi Folks, I have some new 7.62x53r Lapua brass which needs to be 54r. When loading this to form the shoulder forward, what would be the best way to go? A normal weight bullet for my usual load with a start charge or a lighter bullet with a faster powder. Would it matter. I welcome any thoughts or advice. Thanks.
gunner
You should ideally make a few test rounds and watch for pressure signs on the case head and primer edge especially . If you reach high pressure signs on either thats not your safe forming load in my mind . You should reduce . BUT you may not get the case shoulder to form 100% so a second firing may be needed. Thats basically what i had to do on my first Ackley many year ago - i personaly wouldn't do another .. Good luck - stay safe ..
