Good stuff, are you getting good results with your tuner/mod?

I am really surprised no makes, commercially, a tuner/mod for rimfires.

How much would you pay for a rimfire moderator with a built in barrel tuner?

Serious question.

Never seriously considered it.

Such a combination would certainly achieve its objectives in reducing noise and improving consistency in accuracy, but at what cost?

The tuners I use cost in the region of £300, but they are fitted to competition rifles costing in excess of £1000. Many sporter rifles will cost significantly less so the tuner/mod combination becomes less financially viable. Having said that many people spend more than a rifles cost on optics and other extras such as replacement stocks, so why not a tuner/mod?

Sorry not much help.

Cost i guess  a tuner and mod would be  600 plus ?  and of course on your ticket ?

True, but they do seem to dramatically reduce the sound levels.

How about showing a photo of the misfires? Could be light strikes, firing pin shape or position where it's impacting the rim.

I haven't kept any. Might be light strikes..!!

Had the bolt apart..

Wiped it off and lightly greased the moving parts. (Smeared some )

Firing pin end looked OK..

Not really sure what it's ment too look like..

Do I need a new spring or is there an upgraded spring..??

I did try stretching it but it's pretty firm.

Placed an order for a new more powerful spring..

Used all the hash marks and I was aiming center inbetween top of the bottom post and the first hash up.

It was easier too see the white circle aiming just to the right at 3 o'clock not shading half of the circle which pretty much blanked it off. The bal cal said 24.5 moa..

Almost right 👍

The other day I came home and gun was wet..

Took the bolt out and stood up the 22 muzzle down too dry in the airing cupboard..

It was in there 2 days 😳.

Hid the bolt in there too and I didn't decock the bolt so this maybe why I was experiencing even more light strikes than before..

Probaly my bad 🙄.

I have left it in the airing cupboard a few times overnight and did the same then and didn't decock the bolt..

Always wiped off the bolt and put in my safe before the other day..!!

Make sure you’re cleaning the firing pin hole too . My anschutz gets dirty in there then has a few light strikes. One of them brass brushes helps . Then a tiny little bit of oil on your finger wiped on the pin shaft only .
good luck

I think a fire case doesn't tell the whole story -  with a light strike that has managed to fire the round I would think there would be an element of fireforming the case back onto the firing pin so may actually look ok. A photo of a misfired live round might give more information.
Those look good strikes, but you are using a lot of pin energy by striking right out to the rim, squashing brass against brass.
This inboard strike is considered by many rimfire benchrest/competition shooters to be a better bet for consistent ignition.
Weak and inconsistent ignition contributes to vertical stringing and high ES velocity.

Serious competitive shooters might take their £4-5k target rifles in for an annual service - The firing pin spring is something that is regularly changed, in most sporting rifles it won't get changed for the life of the rifle.

I've fired about 10 shots without a misfire so far..

What has gappened is my point of impact has changed..

It's about 15mm ish higher..

Should be able too see my point of impact on recent 50yds groups..

It's windy today so group is horizontal..

May even have helped the verticle I can get..

I'll shoot a few more groups and see if they shoot the same place.

ignore the middle hole its where i hang it up20221230_145630.thumb.jpg.94a4ff024201bfbb72d6bf6ec923c77b.jpg
