Picatinny to tripod adapter

Recommended Posts

Prone shooting is becoming a pain in the neck after a few minutes and wondered how’s best to go from a rail on the underside of the stock to my old Manfrotto tripod, or maybe a lighter upgrade, the Innorel tripod seems light and good value.  Or is a monkey clamp an easier option?

This is all new to me.
thanks

I’m not sure it’s possible on the chassis I have.  Nowhere to fix it on the underside, just a 3 inch pic rail up front, which thinking about it, is probably too far forward from the point of balance.

It’s a GRS Bolthorn, bought 2nd hand off here.  In hindsight, not the most versatile chassis on the market.

You might be able to fit a Sawtooth ARCA rail to that GRS stock...

Shoot them an email, he may be interested in making one for the GRS.

Thanks Marine, I bought the Rekon adapter.  The Bolthorn stock has a couple of rails up front, even the rearmost is a little farther forward than is ideal, but I have a very sturdy ball head that should hold it steady.

A universal ARCA rail from MDT would be my choice that way you could utilise some of the existing threaded holes in the Bolthorn chassis.

hog or pig saddle

Kind of a dated solution that is nowhere near as stable, or versatile,  as a ARCA rail and tripod/bullhead fitted for ARCA.

If you need a quicker response, let me know. One of the guys I shoot with does a lot of testing for them.

A Sawtooth ARCA rail on my AI.

FYI: The anvil 30 ball head in this photo will latch to picatinny, as well as ARCA, rails.
