I thought I'd start doing match reports etc for the NRA CSR league :-)

The first Civ SR competition of 2018 was held this past Saturday on a bright but cold day at Bisley, and it turned out to be a record breaker too with a remarkable 128 entries signed up for the day!

The morning started off with a round of bacon rolls and hot tea and coffee provided by Carl, the head chef and manager from the ATSC, who also laid on the rather excellent hot lunch of chicken curry or beef stew.
This was welcomed by all and could quite possibly become a regular thing.

Once the safety briefing was over with, details A & B set off for the first of the mornings stages, Harassing Fire at 500yds, and with the newly enforced 2 minute sighting period completed, the match was under way at just after 08.30
This was followed up with Sitting at 400 and two stages at 300, a Snap and another Sitting, albeit on a tricky Fig 12.

A quick change around and C & D details were done and dusted, which led to an early lunch break, and an eagerly anticipated wait for the hot lunch to arrive

At the end of the mornings activities scorecards were taken back to the Shooting Division and we had the following winners

William Tong: Historic 84pts
Andrew Littler: Iron Sights 106pts
Jon Elliott: Practical Optic 184pts
Steven Page: Service Optic 180pts

The afternoon match started slightly earlier than was planned to make full use of the very short daylight, and once again because of this it was kept to four short stages at 200 & 100 yards

The first practise was the Bisley Bullet at 200 and this was followed up with The Sitting
After this everyone moved down to 100 for the two practises there, Standing and Breaking from Cover
All firing was completed by 15.50 just as the light was beginning to fade.

Historic: William Tong 118pts
Andrew Littler: Iron Sights 134pts
Martin Camp: Practical Optic 175pts
Peter Cottrell: Service Optic 176pts

Once again the Shooting Division did a sterling job and the results were posted on the NRA website before most people had arrived home

Mark

nice turn out, looked a bit ‘crisp’?

T

The turnout certainly exceeded our expectations, but there has been a general upturn in attendances of late.

It was a bit fresh first thing and got very cold mid morning, but the sun made an effort after that and it did get decidedly milder around lunch time

The curry was one of my better ideas

It would be really interesting to see the rifles and calibres the competitors were using in the results.

:)

Come along on Sunday and see for yourself, we even have curry and stew booked for lunchtime. I guarantee you won't be disappointed
