Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Silhouette 45-70

Recommended Posts

Hi,

After buying a Marlin 1895 XLR from FoxPro, my Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Silhouette in 45-70 is for sale.

Main reason for sale other than the above... my eyesight isn't brilliant and I didn't fancy scoping the Sharps.

The rifle is in good condition, few marks on the stock, but generally OK. The double set trigger mechanism recently replaced, so that should give a bit of peace of mind.

Rear sight wise it comes with standard ramp, Universal Rear Sight (I can't remember if it's the Middle or Long, I think it's the former) and a Creedmoor Soule XL Middle Range (link). Front sight, is a Spirit level tunnel sight (link), with some inserts if required. The front sight is missing the spirit level bubble, it's not something I got round to replacing, as I didn't use it.

Reloading wise it comes with Lee dies, 100 cases, 100 405 grain lead bullets, a Lee 459-500-3R mould that throws a long-range 485-500 grain bullet.

Shoots very well, at 20 m with the open sights, which I can't see through all that well, I can get all through one ragged hole. This with either the light 405 grain load (11.4 grains of Trail Boss), or medium load with the Lee 485 grain bullet (25.5 grains of DO60 with a polyester powder wad). Not got round to shooting it much at further distances due to various reasons, but I'm sure it would be fine.

Let me know if you want to see the high-res images.

Price, the rifle goes for £1,240 on Kranks (link), £149 for the Universal (link), £231 for the Soule (link) and the other bits and bobs probably total £150 new. So all-in about £1,700. I'd be looking for around £900 all in, though that's negotiable and I will split things if need be.

Bump... slight price change.

Would be interested in a fast twist (1:8) .22 BR ,or 300 Blackout rifle if anyone fancies an (part) exchange? If 22 BR, I'd include my Sako AI in .22 PPC USA in the deal. I don't need two 22 CF rifles.
