The 185g Hybrid doesnt seem to be used much for FTR in comparison to the 185g jugg and heavier bullets even though it has a higher G7 than the jugg is there any reason why its not a popular choice for FTR shooters.

It needs a longer freebore than the 185 Jugg. If you're going to 'throat' the rifle for heavy Hybrids, you might as well do it for and shoot the 200 or 215gn models. The 200gn version is now popular in top-level GB FTR.

The optimal 0.168" freeebore for the Jugg still works well with most 155s and will take the evergreen 210gn Berger LRBT at a pinch making it a very flexible option. The 185 Juggernaut is such a good performer too in real life irrespective of what paper BCs / ballistics charts say, I'd be loath to switch models on purely theoretical grounds.

Having said all that Paul Crosbie put in some great long-range performances with the 185 Hybrid a few years ago including the 1,100 and 1,200 yard stages in the annual Bisley 'Long-Range' GB FCA league round. (Nevertheless, he shoots one of the two heavier models these days.) The US FTR team has been involved in testing the new Berger 200gn 200-20X Hybrid model and it's already been announced will use it in next year's F-Class World Championships in Canada.

Thanks for info Laurie must try loading both the 185g jugg and hybrid and compare results for 1000y seems a lot of shooters questioning the pros and cons with the heavier 30 cal pills for Long range e.g Less barrel life Increase with wind induced vertical, fatigue etc over the lighter flatter shooting offerings such as the 155.5 and 185g offerings, cheers.
