Guest 308Panther
The first pic was taken a week before the deer season opened... The second pic (bad angle,I know) was taken 3 days after the season opened. Both are of the same deer. The first pic was taken by my father...and the buck was nicknamed "Goldihocks" because when the sunlight was on him for some reason his legs would light up a real pretty golden color. He would come in 2 or 3 times a day... I dropped him using a Win model 70 in .308 topped w/ a 4-12x40 Leupold from a distance of 25 feet...He was facing me w/his rump angled slightly to my left w/its left front leg back... There's a reason for all the details... I shot him in the chest just about where the hair swirl is...the bullet crossed thru one lung and came out above the diaphram and as it cleared the ribs the bullet seperated...one part blew out a portion of his upper leg bone and the other part cleared the ribs...and then entered the back leg just above the knee and crossed thru the rear leg and was almost thru the hide. One shot...4 bullet holes.Meat loss minimal... It still managed to run off for 250 yrds...after a cup of coffee and then gettin dressed to go out...I started to trail it.. Found it dropped not 30 feet from the main road...Easy pickins to go down w/the van and drive it out. That was about the shortest distance I had to drag a deer, ever 308Panther
