ejg223
My son Peter does a little shotgun shooting and is quite good at it but has only fired a few rounds out of a centrefire. Everytime he did shoot with the rifle he was very accurate. Peter is the P in PSE-Composites and is gifted at laying up stocks. Mostly helps in the workshop around his college lectures. Now we have found a Howa action that will receive a Bergara fluted barrel from Fergal White so that Peter can make a stock and complete the rifle himself. I am glad he is showing a bit of interest in deer and fox shooting. Yesterday we went out after Sika stags and he would take my good old 308, I would back up with a 30-30 Winchester as it could be very close range. We arrived at our forest at dark and started to walk along a forest path as first light came. One stag was whistling further back close to a low high seat that was placed at an open patch. We stalked into the open patch and sat in the high seat. After a while we heard branches cracking and noises in two places in the lower trees in front of us. A stag running out into the edge of the clearing possibly chased by another. Peter re-arranged the rifle as the stag stopped for a moment, enough time to put the bullet through the stags neck. I saw the stag drop on the spot. Anyway...he could drag the thing back to the road himself. I managed a stag later with the 30-30 which made the day perfect. edi

Hows the 30-30 on the sika? They are fairly tough to knock. The pse stock and kaps scope are doing great work on my Tikka!

Bullet mushroomed perfectly even at that slow speed. how's your season going? Presume the freezer is full. edi
