I did similar a while back and found the biggest attractant for deer was actually deer skin and offal, maybe they were related and it was the scent as I had shot a few young ones and that one on film could have been the mother. The camera was near a badger sett and created some good clips but couldn't get them (x3 badger on one video) to take pigeon or any bits.
