That bald headed Geordie
Hi I have been looking up the 284 case do they not do a 284 case ? do you have to change the neck on a 6-5x284 ? Andy Andy, most shooters use Lapua 6.5 x 284 cases and neck expand them to 284 as Lapua are easy to get hold of and are of very good quality. If you really are that busy then Winchester make .284 brass but the quality is no where near Lapua. Dave

skany
Would it be one pass thru the die Dave and ur ready to load? My next cal is going to be a .284 If this is the case then no diff then sizing ur used brass ideal ! Cheers Andy

Although mine is a tight neck and I have to neck turn after that stage. I also use specific Redding .284 dies. Cheers Dave
That bald headed Geordie
Hi Am i right in thinking that the 284 cases use the 6.5 x284 die's Andy No. Each specific calibre (6.5x284 and 284) have their own full length sizing dies to suit. Just check out Sinclairs website and it will show you the type/number you need for each calibre. If for example you purchased the 6.5x284 full length resizing die in error, you would have to neck expand each time back up to 284, thus overworking the brass. baldie
The silly thing about this cartridge, is that the Wildcat variant [ 6.5 x .284 ] is the one that Lapua make brass for. The original chambering [ .284 winchester ] only has Win brass available for it. How,s that for market driven forces.
Ronin
284 Win, 284 Improved or 7mm WSM if you havent the time for case prep, you havent the time to load develop or compete. You need to make time if youre serious.
ANDY T
Hi IF i go for the straight .284 i might copy this build http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek088.html but use a 30'' boarder barrel Andy

Hence I deleted my post when I read it on lap top. That rifle is the perfect spec. Quite a few other F open shooters use this specification including Grant Taylor (who obviously copied me )
