Sakotrg
I appreciate that this is not quite about homeloading but the font of knowledge would lie within this sub category. Was using my .17 HMR this morning and have just had a look at the spent cases and noticed 4 out of 6 have splits on the necks just on the taper. Would this be damaging the breech or affect accuracy? 1967spud
im betting these are the blue tipped ammo for the 17 hmr and it seems a pretty common problem i cant see it will harm any thing in the chamber
Sakotrg
Perhaps should have mentioned that I was using Federal 17 grain V-Max Polymer tip.

Grim Reaper
Last year I had two box's of Remmy gold tips to try and exactly half, that's 50 out of 100 had split necks even before firing. As has already been said it does seem to be the norm at the moment with HMR ammo.
