Bill Parr Firearms

Went thru Belper the other day and it reminded me of Bill Parr Firearms, this was the shop I bought my first CF rifle from at least 30 years ago, it was a Sako Vixen .222.

Did anyone else ever use this shop and what happened to it?

Cheers

Andy

When Bill got to know you he often had some "very interesting" items of weaponary to show, so I wouldn't be at all supprised if the Vickers was fully funtional!!!!!

William Parr Firearms Internation.....................Bill sadly passed away many years ago now circa (1997) just before the UK pistol ban , he had his shop in Belpher and also a shooting Range at Viyella Mills just out side matlock, which was indoor range for Gallery class weapons, Pistols and carbines in the limits of the range certificate.

Bill Started out dealing firearms from home on his Parents Farm, and progressed to being a world wide firearms dealer. Bill was a section 5 dealer and was authorisation for section 5 (1) a........... fully automatic weapons.

Bill was on of the very first dealers to import the M14 rifle (the adapted version of the M1 Garand) in large quantities.

He was a Western fan, and a big fan of John Wayne, and had a large collection of this memorabila at his home in Crich, Derbyshire.

I worked for bill in for about a year circa 1996....as a buyer.........agent.....working under bills RFD......BILL and my self had a good friend Gunsmith rifle maker by the name of Mick Broad from Long Eaton, who sadly poassed away.

I remember my first use of the Infamous MG42, with bill on a commercial shoot, it was an awsome experience.

I like to mention a large importer of firearms no longer in existence who bill did business with......Sidum UK..........SECTION 5 DEALERS.

I miss bill greatly we planned to move into offshore firearms business, but sadly Bill passed away.

Sorry to resurrect this thread.Funny old world, finding this post. My dad (John Stanton/dollar) was best friends with Bill. I have some interesting stories about them both that would be best shared over a beer, than on the net. They were both big in to the Western scene, and as a kid, I remember them giving me a ladies Schmidt .22 revolver (FAC job) on my birthday. I'd go to events and do some shooting with my little pistol.

I remember our dining room wall was full of guns. Quite crazy really considering laws now.

Dad died a month or so ago and was looking through his old stuff and Bill popped up. How short is life?
