  2. I just found out today that the guy who volunteered to RCO for the RBL Match has bowel cancer. Crash (Glynn) Evans, who is an old Shipmate and Ex-RN Gunnery Instructor, volunteered to RCO the RBL Match for me way back in March. At that time he was fit and healthy and wanted to be part of the fund raising effort. Despite being in some pain and discomfort and knowing that he was to undergo major surgery this week he turned up to do his bit on Saturday. Crash was divorced last year and has moved from Plymouth, where he had lived for most of his naval career, to Bristol where he was born. He had a job as a Site Manager at an Academy School in Bristol but did not get his contract renewed after his six month probationary period after discovering some irregularities with the hiring of some of the gym facilities by the Academy management. So hes currently unemployed and living on whats left of his pension having been told hes not entitled to any benefits. Later today he will be going under the knife and I hope that they have caught it soon enough to be able to give him the opportunity of a long life and a lot more shooting. I have contacted the Royal British Legion in Bristol who will be visiting him in hospital when he is well enough to have visitors and they have told me they are going to do what they can to help him. Please wish him well.
