  1. I tried cat litter, but as mentioned by gruntus, but apart from the powder puffs from the seams and getting everywhere, the granules set like cement when my bags got wet. After ditching the (now ruined) bags, I filled a new set with 6mm 0.12g B&B pellets. Less than 12 quid on Am@z0n for a box of 5000. Sand has a tendency to keep any water and soon grows some interesting moulds.
  2. Hi there. If your generator is a back up supply to an installation which is already connected to the public network then yes. Section 55 of the IET regs (18th edition) is the source of guidance. If the genny is the only source of supply then the operator must ensure the safe automatic disconnection of supply. Again section 55 applies. If you're not sure, then seek out the opinion of a professional sparky.
