  1. I myself was in the market for a ‘hybrid use’ scope like this to sit on a 22” 6.5 Creedmoor in a PSE E-tac stock ‘jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none’ rifle for both stalking and range work. I think I’m going to go for this with the L-Ballistic ret: https://leica-camera.com/en-GB/sport-optics/scopes/prs Nice markings for holding on the range but without ‘Christmas tree’ clutter for stalking. Seemed the best quality for my budget (along with a suitable reticle). I’ve yet to purchase though as I want to look through one first.
  2. Nice to see someone else with a Daniel Defence (I shan’t tolerate the ‘s’ in their American name) stock! My favourite AR stock but rarely seen amongst the sea of Magpuls. Also like their grips best too for their angle and grippy-ness! Fit my hand perfectly. Did Lantac supply with the stock on request or did you have to purchase and fit after?
  3. Looks like you’ve changed the bolt knob out in the cerakote picture. Can I ask where you got it? I’m looking to replace the one on my 457. Cheers.
  4. Probably not this one though as that is well out of my price league 😅
  5. Thanks for all the replies everyone, I’ll take a look at the other options suggested.
  6. I’m in desperate need of a decent gun vice for both ease of maintenance and scope mounting. Naturally, my first port of call was just to google what the best ones were so I could pick one that suited my requirements / budget. After trawling several articles and big U.K. online retailers (Optics Warehouse and Sportsman Gun Centre for example) I was shocked to find that the only real option seemed to be the Tipton ‘Best Gun Vice’ or ‘Ultra Gun Vice’. Both of these had a very plasticky look about them and quite frankly I’m just shocked at the lack of options or different manufacturers for something like this that most shooters must surely need. Does anybody know of any different options? Even from a small British firm? What are other people’s opinions on this apparent near-monopoly of this particular piece of equipment? On the other hand, if options are indeed very limited, are there any resounding endorsements for either of the Tipton models?
  7. That AK is certainly interesting, especially after a read through my the thread!
  8. I’ll say this - I had a Lantac Stealth Raven on order for well over a year and I ended up cancelling and got a NWCP. More than happy with my choice. I hear the Lantacs are excellent rifles but their customer service was shocking, zero updates on timelines unless you asked (and I’m talking 4-5 months without even a courtesy email) and when you did they basically didn’t have a ball park date or month for you. Didn’t know Dave dabbled in .22LR AR’s? I’ve got a straight pull .223 off him and know that’s one of his specialities but I’ve never seen him post a .22LR build on Facebook or anything amongst all the centrefires he builds. Would recommend him any day, only had 1 dealing with him but what a lovely bloke, with solid advice and communication.
  9. Thanks for the reply Andrew. Aren’t those ones still only left-charging right-ejection though? There’s a few companies that do those (Tactical Innovations being another). I’d be after left ejection too like the full Ruger left hand.
  10. Does anybody know if there’s a way to buy a standalone left hand receiver for the 10/22? Since Ruger released their custom shop lefty (and magazines to feed it) I was hoping that some American aftermarket receiver manufacturers might have followed suit but unfortunately a year and a half later it would appear not! I’ve wanted a custom 10/22 for a while but can’t even seem to find these new left hand receivers in standalone format or barrelled-action format, and I really don’t want to have to buy the full rifle and incur the expense of the stock for nothing (I’d want to put it in a chassis). Any RFDs / builders know if you could get a standalone left handed receiver (or even barrelled-action) to use as part of a build? Or do I have to resign myself to the expense of getting the full Ruger Custom Shop left hand model and then replacing parts?
  11. Very tempted by this which has just gone on sale, although it’s still only the same elevation adjustment as the strike eagle (110 MOA): https://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/meopta-meopro-optika-6-5-30x56-ffp-mrad-rd-rifle-scope?mc_cid=bc0eb0c318&mc_eid=fe47906676
  12. Well whatever you decide, best of luck! Thanks for mentioning the Atlasworxs one too, I’ll take a look at that as I know they make some other good components.
  13. Looks lovely that, nice job! If successful and works as planned would you consider making and selling small quantities?
  14. Thanks for the reply. Well noted! I did spot that too and yes I would also like to use it at normal ranges as well. Just couldn’t seem to find many other options in the price range with more travel. Would you have any suggestions? Or even ones just slightly higher then the £1K budget? I am also perfectly happy using the reticle markings themselves to stretch it a little further as you say.
  15. Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to try and look down the Hawke in question then and look at the Riton too.
  16. I’m wanting to get into longer range rimfire shooting so I’m on the hunt for a budget(-ish, by long range FFP standards) £1000 or less scope to stick on my Tikka T1X. So far I’m looking at either of these 2: https://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/vortex-strike-eagle-5-25x56-ffp-illuminated-ebr-7c-mrad-sf-rifle-scope https://uk.hawkeoptics.com/frontier-30-ffp-5-25x56-mil-pro.html The vortex I’ve had a look down a couple before and liked the picture, the Hawke I’ve no experience of. Was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations of other options at £1000 or less for this before I pull the trigger (pun absolutely intended) on one of these? Requirements would be minimum 25x at the high end and FFP. Please no second hand suggestions, I’m ‘one of those’ who likes his stuff taken care of from new, and yes I’m aware of the potential drawbacks of this.
  17. Thanks for the replies both of you, I’ll take a look.
  18. I’ve joined a practical shotgun club and am now a full member with an FAC shotgun slot on my ticket. I’m going down the pump-action route because I get my semi-auto / magazine-fed kicks from mini rifle so pump feels wholly different. After doing a bit research (and also trying several different club guns in Section 2 form) I’ve decided I’d like a Remington 870. My list of desirables were cheapish, customisable and reliable. Another key driver was that I wanted to be able to adjust length of pull because I’m fairly short (with associated fairly short arms!) and like the pumping range of motion closer to my body rather than feeling like my arm is quite extended when the action had a cartridge chambered. For this reason I wanted one of the Magpul stocks with spacers plus matching pump. These are only made for Remington 870s and Mossberg 590s. Now, to the part I’m struggling with - sourcing the magpul stock and pump / handguard is easy enough, but I never thought I’d struggle to get a suitable base model to stick them on! The best model seemed to be the fieldmaster, which has a more basic grade of wood stock and a treated - as opposed to blued - receiver and barrel compared to the wingmaster, giving me the receiver I want without paying for a stock I’m not going to use. Ideally, I’d like a 24” barrel, but it looks like the shortest I can get on any 870 model in the U.K. is 26”, which I’ll settle for. Does anybody know where I can acquire a 26” barrel FAC Remington 870 fieldmaster? Because I’m struggling to find one! Also, I know this probably isn’t the best forum for this question, I just don’t know any U.K.-focused practical shooting ones so if anyone can suggest a better place to post then I shall! Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi Dellboy, do you have a Facebook page or website that we can visit to monitor the progress of this venture? The thought of a British rimfire chassis system with various action options has definitely piqued my interest. A matter of importance for me though - would there potentially by options for a lefty version in the pipeline? Suppose that would be down to demand for you and whether it's worth your while.
  20. If you're dead set on one then fair enough, but if you're willing to hear alternative suggestions (which you can definitely get) then look at AIM - British company.
  21. That was interesting to read, thanks for that. Didn't know the sales situation was as dramatic as that in the USA.
  22. Just thought I'd give a little update on this. After being told in August that they'd be delivered mid October (that sad part is by this point I wasn't even remotely hopeful that would be the case) I waited until the start of November to enquire where they were (of course it was me emailing them again and not the other way round...). I was told they still weren't delivered from the US, no reason why. At this point I basically responded that their communication was non-existent and shockingly unacceptable. I was offered a full refund and I took it. So after a year and 3 months of waiting I've finally moved on. Went to see Wayne at North West Custom Parts yesterday and he's doing me a custom build. I got to pick everything - receiver, handguard, grip, stock, charging handle, safety - and see and handle the lot. Only thing he didn't have in stock was the better mag adapter I want for S&W M&P mags, but that won't take long. I would recommend him infinitely more than Lantac, for anyone who would wish to know. He carries a lot in stock too.
  23. What is up with this club? I'm from up North so never really came into contact with it but I've never seen another club talked about nearly as much as this one on this forum (mostly negative at that...).
  24. Bit of a shame there isn't a 'custom' British action maker. Defiance / Bighorn-level quality for £750 without importing and duties inflating the cost? Yes please! Maybe with the ever-increasing popularity of PRS-style shooting there might be more of a market than there was say 5 - 10 years ago for those aforementioned British-made actions?
