  1. I'm after some points of view on powders for the Swedish M96 and M38. The online consensus is that the actions of these milsurps need to be treated with common sense respect due to the age of components and inherent limits of the small-ring Mauser design. I have reloaded for my Swedish rifles at several times in the past with good results using IMR 4895. I now have new PPU 6.5 brass and 140gn SMK bullets waiting on the shelf, but I'm unclear as to which of the post-REACH powders would be the best choice. Vihtavouri's load data seems to suggest N150 as the optimum for 6.5x55 but some others have suggested N160. As all options are currently very difficult to obtain, I want to be clear what I should be looking for before I go hunting for a tub of unobtainium powder.
  2. Used Scopecote XP6 'Flak Jacket' scope cover for 56mm objective scope Length of cover 400mm, but neoprene will stretch a little. Very effective protection against handling damage. RRP around £35. £20 posted.
  3. AICS .308 10 round steel mag for sale. VGC, not much used. £45 posted.
  4. I'll be at Bisley on the afternoon of the 15th. PM me and we can swap contact details.
  5. New Year, time to move on the things that have no immediate function. These will be advertised on eBay and Guntrader as soon as I have time to take pics. Meanwhile: Sightron SIII 8-32 x56. MOA reticle, non-IR. Very good cosmetic condition, perfect optics as you'd expect, c/w sunshade. No box or sightron lens covers but I'll include an unused Butler Creek flip-up for the eyepiece. Excellent scope, only selling as I upgraded to the equivalent Sightron LR with illumination for my ancient eyes. £350. NOW SOLD Schmidt and Bender vintage 4 x 32 steel bodied, OEM for Waffen Frankonia Wurzburg. German No1 reticle. Fabulous bright optics. Bluing 95% perfect, slightly thinning on the eyepiece bell (really nice patina imo). If you're unfamiliar with these OEM scopes, on which the reputation of S&B was established, see https://www.schmidtundbender.de/en/company/history.html £150 A.S.I. (Nikko Sterling) 4 x 40 air rifle scope, c.1979. Duplex reticle, perfect condition and bright optics, c/w Burris low Weaver mounts. £25 Fultons 'No Gunsmithing' S2 scope rail for Lee Enfield No4. Weaver rail, perfect cosmetic condition. I will also include a nicely oil finished 4T style cheekpiece - everything you need to fit a scope on a No4. £80 Burris signature 30mm 'turn-in' scope rings and reversible extension bases for Remington 700. Not sure what height the rings are; the bases and rings were suitable for mounting a 56mm objective scope on a Remington. £35 Parker Hale FS22 A target foresight. As found on L39 target rifles etc. Very good condition, currently with post element. £30 NOW SOLD Gamo diopter sight for air rifle. £10 Collection from Hastings area or Bisley preferred. Postage at cost and buyers risk.
  6. But mils in the army were different, surely - 6400 mils in a circle? Was that just rounding up 62381 to an easily divisible figure? I also sort of remember that Warsaw Pact equipment used 6000 mils?
