  1. Not Ranting again are you wee man?
  2. Thanks, Dave. I wanted to provide an option for people that wanted to use AR hand grips on their AI rifles for what ever reason. The kit fits without any modifications to the rifle and the new stock sides allow people to retain their existing covers and return to standard spec at any time. As you have said Dave, no need to alter existing hard to get rifle furniture. Alan
  3. Mathematically, Cosignϴ x C = B Cosign ϴ x C (C being the hypoteneuse) this is equal to the direct line of sight distance to target = B (in a right angled triangle). B = the actual horizontal distance to the target. This distance B is the distance that the bullet in flight is effected by gravity not distance C. The distance C is always by mathematical principal (Pythagoras theorem) a shorter distance than B. Therefore the (measurable) effect of gravity on the bullet is only imparted for distance B. The rest of your statement is just clouding the issue, the bullet still travels the 1000 mtrs to the target, correct. So the flight time is still your theoretical 2secs, the fact is that, the bullet is only being effected by gravity for 0.866% of the flight, which due to the inclined or declined angle gives a ballistic advantage, the direct result of which is the need to allow for less drop for the given distance. It doesn't just appear to drop less, it actually does drop less. Your first line in the question relates to the rule used to determine the horizontal distance to target The solution posted by Jack is quite right, a simple way to determine the distance to target that should be used with a shooters own dope or a ballistics solver to determine the hold for the shot. The OPs original intent I am sure was to enlighten new shooters to one way to engage targets at inclined angles.
  4. Hi Ewen, The rifle was built by me. You have seen it, when you shot at the MQC last year. The barrels are threaded M18 x1mm. The weight is approx 6Kg. Alan

  7. Not quite sure what you guys are trying to achieve here, Lapua, stirring the mud with a spoon I suspect, again? The time, effort and cost by Tiff to start this series has been massive. There were always going to be problems to start with, the biggest being the whingers and whiners who would not be happy regardless of what was provided. Tiff has provided events that have been attended by many shooters and thay have returned time and time again, so something must be right. This has also been done by Sapper811 at Diggle and shows that it can be done if you are willing to put the effort in. If you feel so strongly about how something should be run and what format it should take then why have you not got up off your arses and done something? If you don't like the idea, then don't show up, do your own thing and see how many turn up.

  13. There appears to be a problem with your maths on the Understanding MOA article? 2MOA @ 100 yards = 16 clicks with 1/8MOA click value not 18
