Long range optics
Brushy replied to Ralpharama's topic in Target Shooting & Informal Long Range Shooting Practice
It is helps, I’m using 300 SMKs out of my AXMC - which has a 30MOA rail - with a S&B 3-27 High Power and had to hold in the ret for a 1900m target. My solution is around 33mils. I think a prism device is probably prudent (or a ‘flatter’ cartridge) because a maxed out erector makes a poor image when holding in the lower reticle quadrant. -

Bump and price drop to 1300 posted! I’ll also throw in Devcon Alu putty (10611) for the buyer- just in case you ever want the option to rebond to original AT stock chassis. PM if interested -

Thanks, I’m still on the fence with whether to keep it and try it but I’ve got Alan’s (GTAC) grip conversions, an anarchy thumbrest and one of Mike (MBEs) arca on my which means there is perhaps a little less to gain than some! It’s a great saving for those who want to make their stock AT a little more ergonomic and fit for the PRS game! -

Christmas offer at £1300 posted. -
I’ve recently taken delivery on a right hand bolt AI AT inlet MPA BA comp chassis with additional side rails. Literally delivered last week after a 4/5 month wait and not mounted. I’m no longer sure I want to debond my AT at this point for some ergo upgrades. Therefore I am happy to sell this on at £1415 including shipping. You’ll avoid the 5 month wait and get the side rails, screws and all the bits included in the box. Full details are available on the web. PM if interested.

@Scotch_eggWhilst the tubular forend is close to the barrel, the handgrip section of the AX and AXMC (where the balance point typically is) makes a significant height over bore. This equates to several inches when shooting off a bag. I must say I’m not the biggest fan of the aesthetics of the vision and prefer the looks of Samb Ao chassis but that’s my own taste…

PM inbound re BR4s

They work really well with GTAC grip conversion and the MDT elite grip, especially if you have bigger hands
-
Suggest you best bet would be the wanted section. I wanted the same and one came through. You might get lucky and find someone getting an vision chassis and no longer need the thumb rest

Spoke to Avon last week, they are looking at 8-12 weeks for a variation

Regarding race rigs and the gear race putting off new starters. I think that there is a fundamental issue here which is being missed…. the best way to measure success and improvement is against yourself (only). Questions like: Did I built good positions, was my wobble within the target, did I make good wind calls, was every trigger press perfect. These are questions which any shooter should ask themselves and not ‘where did I place on the leaderboard’. If the later question is the determinant of whether a shooter comes back to another event, they will always struggle. There are a huge number of variables to where shooters do well at a match and many are outside of personal control (wind, shooter order on a stage, spotter calls etc). Personally, I like the idea of a hunter comp and would definitely like to give this a go.

Regarding the above….. How about we don’t undermine something that has the ability to make precision rifle much more accessible? The targets are on the range floor and therefore well below the sand bank. The only way to be unsafe would be to be a rev off. The chances of a PR shooter being a rev off are no different to any other range user. As a general comment, Shooting on a flat range obviously has disadvantages in terms of fall of shot but it’s another skill good shooters need to learn.
