  1. I bought these a year ago and have used them throughout the season. https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/dc/v100765195/ They attenuate noise very well and the microphones are better than the ones on my sporttac. They do suffer in strong wind similarly to other amplified headsets. I use them also when firing my braked rifles as I find that getting a good cheekweld can create a tiny gap with cupped ear defenders. They perform really well. I'm sure there are better options, these are 3M/Peltor's entry level and come in around £200.
  2. On balance looking at barrel length and bullet weight I have purchased a couple of kg of RS52. Does anyone have experience of this powder bullet combination?
  3. Thank you for the note regarding case capacity. I jumped on n550 as the temperature sensitivity was so low. I have also CFE223 which looks quick on paper with a very narrow band between min max loads but does suffer with temperature. It does well with magnum primers as a ball powder. I'll look at n140 as an alternative.
  4. Dear All, I am looking to put a load together for a TacA1 in 308win. Components so far are: Laupa Brass Vit N550 Laupa Scenar-L 155gr I have a limited number (<2000) CCI 200 which I use for 260rem and 22-250. I have circa 4k CCI250 which I use for 300WSM. Given the lack of availability of CCI primers, can I use the 250s or would it be better, performance wise, to use the 200s. This load will be used for (relatively) competitive shooting. Thanks in advance, James
  5. I'm using 44gn of RS60 with a 118gr Peregrine. It is not a warm load but gives me an ave of 2921fps with an ES of 15 and SD of 6.
  6. Unanimous then. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
  7. Good Afternoon, I am looking for options for a .308 straight pull and where to start. Initial searches show options with a LMT or Southern Gun Co. Speedmaster. Are the other places/smiths who you would recommend consulting to build an AR10 based rifle? I would also like some advice on barrel length. To be used predominantly for target work to 500yds with occasional woodland deer management. Many thanks, J
  8. LH Rem700 VS in a HS Precision stock. 20in fluted heavy barrel. Well used but still shoots. Taken 100s of deer. £350
  9. Thanks for the information thus far. Is the glass equal? I don't know anyone who has both for a side by side comparison. They both seems to weight the same i.e. Heavy.
  10. Looking for opinions on the Burris XTR II 5-25 50 moa illuminated compared with a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 moar T. I have an old nxs 5.5-22x56 illum and love it. The question is what do I get for an extra £1k over the Burris?
  11. I'm looking for an aftermarket stock from a Sako M591 in LH. Predominantly for deer but also steel at range. Chambered in. 260rem. Needs to be adjustable preferably for lop and recoil pad height but certainly for comb height. If PSE made a stock for the action It'd be my first choice but alsa, they don't. That gives you an idea of what I'm looking for. McMillan is an option and possibly SSS though I've read very mixed reviews. Any help or pointers greatly appreciated.
  12. Very good condition. Illuminated TMCQ reticule. SFP 30mm tube. £295 posted Rm 1st Class insured Photos will be sent via WhatsApp PM me your number if you are interested. It is the same as this: https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-ranger-1-4x24-riflescope.html except that it does not have ED glass. It's very good glass though.
  13. Thanks to all for your replies. After some thought, and realising I cannot get a stock with bottom metal for a mag on my .260, I will be putting in for a 6mm. I love my .260 as a deer rifle and don't want to chop it in. I also don't really want two 6.5s. Not sure yet on 6CM or 6XC. Ballistically almost identical but availability of brass etc will factor. If I'm looking at the 103-115gr bullets I assume I'll need a 1-7.5 twist as a minimum. Just getting a quote for a re-barrel, blueprint and new stock on my Rem700 VS .308 . I have also looked at The Savage Model 10 Evolution which I can get via Edgar Bros in a factory left hand 6mm CM. Other factory rifles to consider are Tikka TAC A1 LH but only 6.5CM. Am I missing any decent and suitable factory rifles available LH? I understand most offerings will only be in .243win which won't be ideal due to twist rate. Thanks again, James
  14. Just read the rules for PRL and unless I've missed it there is nothing written about bullet construction. The only restrictions seem to be max cal of .30 and max velocity of 3200fps.
  15. I am keen to get into PRS and have a few rifles that I could use to compete chambered in .308win, .260rem and 300WSM. I'm leaning towards the 300WSM due to a wide range of bullet choices and the fact that the rifle (a T3X Varmint) is sat in a MDT HS3 chassis which is both accurate and ergonomically excellent. My first question is: Can you use expanding ammunition in the competitions/ranges? I currently load a Nosler 210gr ABLR a the rifle is used predominantly for culling fallow deer in the open and reds on the hill and I'd like, if possible to stick to one load for both PRS and Stalking. Secondly: what is the sweet spot in trade off between BC and velocity. I'm using such a heavy load to help mitigate user error factor in wind calls. The 210gr ABLR has an excellent stated BC although I using Litz figure for BC in my calculations, it's still good but the trade off is that I'm achieving 2850fps which is ok but I get the feeling it is sub-optimal cartridge bullet combination. I'd really appreciate feed back on the above from users of the 300WSM as well as users of 6.5mm rounds be it 260rem 6.5cm etc. Thanks in advance, James
  16. Thanks Richard, the WSM is short action so length is not a problem in the .308 mag. I already have the longer 7rnd WSM ACIS mag which it the same length as a 10rnd .308 mag. Thanks all the same.
  17. Thanks Edi, I'll measure the distance between the lips and bend the shoulders to fit. Worth a go over buying a new one for £90.
  18. Good morning, I was wondering if anyone has adapted their AICS magazine to fit a different cartridge than it was intended for? I currently have a 7 round mag for my .300WSM which works well but does protrude rather a lot. I also have an AICS .308win 5 round mag which I was hoping to adapt to get 3 or 4 300WSM rounds in. Is it simply a case of widening the flanges? Any help or dissuasion appreciated. Best, J
