  1. I have a 20BR, built on a Sako 75 action by Neil McKillop. It is very accurate with 39gr SBK but what it really needs is a high BC bullet in the 50gr area but nobody does them anymore. You will also not get the velocity that is banded about on the internet, I cannot get above 3800fps (24" barrel) with mine, I can get nearly 3700 out of my 20Tac which is much easier to load, feed, buy etc etc Good 6BR brass is easy to find, forming the brass is a pain in the arse and must be done in several steps then it has to be neck turned as well, I did 200 and I am planing for this to last the barrel out. I am not expecting the barrel to last that long either In the Sako 75 you need a special PPC mag which is very hard to come by and it still doesn't feed great, it feeds but you need to be firm with it. It only holds 4 rounds as well. A T3 or a custom action would be a better starting point IMO The 20BR was an itch I wanted to sctrach but when this barrel is done it is going to be replaced with a fast 22 or 6mm where the bullet selection is much better
  2. Ok, happy to hear that but the mount I currently have is different to the one fitted to the first A7 that I tried as Ian leant me one to try in December last year, this mount was of a different design and had hex nuts fitted. I trust that existing users will be offered the updated mount as the current one is not up to the job of holding such a large scope securely in place? Will you be addressing any of the other issues that I bought up further up this thread? Otherwise please keep up the good work, your scope has the potential ability to be a real winner.
  3. I tried the 129gr LRX in my 270WSM, this is a very accurate but hunting spec rifle with a custom barrel, it shoots both Nosler Accubonds and the Nosler E-Tips into tiny groups. I really struggled with the LRX and tried many different powder and seating depth combos, most of the time it shot in the 1 to 2 MOA area with the very best group being about 1/2 MOA but this happened right at the very end when I had almost given up and I haven't as yet revisted this combo to see if it is repeatable (which I doubt), funnily enough I was mostly getting very low ES and SD figures but still crap groups.
  4. The mount is not great, I have not had any loss of zero problems but only because I have kept a close eye on the thumbscrews, when I initially mounted the scope I could feel the thumbsrews had come loose after several shots, since I forced them absolutely as tight as I could by hand they have not been a problem but personally I think a scope of this size needs something better, especially if you were using it on a high recoiling rifle, I have only tried mine on a 223 and my 20BR. Also for me the thumbscrews are on the wrong side, the front one partially covers the ejection port on both my T3 and my Sako 75, not a disaster but not great either, a plain bolt head would be far less obtrusive (and would take more torque) or put them on the other side.
  5. It is not a thing of beauty but not as bulky as a Drone Pro with an illuminator on.
  6. The Senopex does have on board recording but it is shite, the outputted signal is actually better but still not good enough. I have an A7 and it is the best thermal scope for longer range work I have used, it's not perfect but it is the first scope that has been good enough to replace a Drone Pro for foxing.

  8. Thanks, I will check that out
  9. I own 2 Wildcat rifles for which 1 especially there is a shortage of load data for the powder I want to use...
  10. I have a genuine copy of QL here for which I paid JMS Arms for an update last year so it would work with Windows 10. I cannot get it to work on my PC, I have tried everything I know(not much) and tried contacting Julian Savoury of JMS but he didn't really care much so no joy. My question is there an alternative out there?
  11. It was Ben Taylor (the Ben in Theoben) who designed the smooth twist barrel
  12. I have one for a T3 CTR I could sell but I don't think this will fit a standard T3 stock
  13. I have a 20BR in which I do use N133 but I didn't bother replying as the OP wanted very paricular info for the PPC. I use 27.3 gr N133 for fire forming with the 39 gr SBK, any more than this and the bolt gets tight.
  14. I hated my 17 Hornet, partly because I just didn't like the rifle but also because it is just terrible in the wind and is not powerful enough to be a proper foxing round either IMO I have also given up with rimfire so I now use a .25 Impact for rats and rabbits and then into a 20 Cal or 223 for everything a bit bigger. 17 Hornet is not much cheaper if at all to shoot factory ammo than a 223 so why limit yourself.
  15. Just go a fast twist, it should still shoot light bullets well. I used to have a 7.5 twist 22-250 and it shot the 77 gr TMK really well but it also shot the 55gr SBK fantastically so why limit yourself. I never liked 53gr V-Max, in my experience the 55gr SBK is miles better.
  16. I actually ended up buying some N133 as somebody else not on here gave me some load data as well for that. However I am not getting anything like the sort of velocities I am hoping for, still only fire forming the brass but I can't even get to 28gr of N133 before the bolt goes really stiff, this is giving about 3750 fps with the 39gr SBK. Accuracy is OK though, I have shot a couple of .25 MOA groups with no real load development. Do you think I will be able to push this up on the second firing, at 28gr the brass was growing about 5 thou in length at the shoulder thus causing the stiff bolt
  17. Thanks for that, that’s exactly the info I was after! I have been using RL10X in my 20Tac for years, that rifle has now fired over 4500 rounds and the accuracy has only really started dropping off in the last few hundred rounds so it can’t be that bad surely!!!
  18. My 20 BR is a few weeks away and I am looking to get the rest of what I need to start loading for it, which in reality means powder choice as I think I have everything else. Rifle is a 10 twist with a 233 neck. I am planning on using the 39gr Sierra Blitz King bullet and I am looking for a powder that will hopefully get me somewhere up near 4,000 fps. I have RL10X, CFE223, RL15, N140 and RL17 here already and would rather use one of these but happy to get something else if required. Anybody got any loads and experience they are willing to share??
  19. It is indeed a Pulsar Trail XQ50 LRF Thermal is the way forward for rat shooting, it just beats any other type of scope hands down. I disagree abut the the mega mags not being good for hunting, they are fantastic, 28 shots without having to reload is the way forward.
  20. Power plenum and MKII high cap mags are the main mods. I have also changed the shroud for a significantly quieter Hugget version. The power plenum was not easy to fit, I did it wrong a couple of times and had to take it back apart but once fitted its awesome, more power and it uses less air, fantastic. The barrel is still the original 600mm smooth twist one, it shoots so well that I can't see the need to get an X one. I also made a new picatinny rail for it that is much lower than the original so that the when running NV the scope is not stuck miles up in the air, this makes a huge difference when taking very close shots when ratting.
