brown dog
Seen a few pics of GIGN snipers using their bipods like this: I’ve no doubt it’s a ‘familiarity’ thing carrying over from the bizarre looking French Army sniper rifle (forget its name, but the bipod is similarly positioned). But I was just wondering how well this bipod position works – and whether anyone here had experimented with it. As I see it: Pros – much more ergonomic – you can reach the bipod; adjust and move it, without breaking your position – probably much easier when setting up in snaggy foliage. Cons – Simply visualising levers and fulcrums; I imagine it’s much less stable. Just had a play seeing if I could set up something similar. Couldn’t get the bipod as far back as in the top pic –and, annoyingly the versapod handstop wouldn’t go into the AW rail so this is all just lying together – but it ‘felt’ more stable than I imagined. Anyone played with this concept properly?
