HI.

I won these bullets at a stalkers shoot and tested them today with my normal load but with RP brass instead of Norma. [5 shots.]

Apart from the need of a lateral adjustment they have proved to be excellent.

40.5gr Vit.N140 , Fed 210 GM primer , 68gr Berger flat-base bullet. [6mm]

SAKO HB Varminter .243

How they will fare on feathered and furry vermin remains to be seen.

Hi Stag,

I wouldnt change a thing in that load recipe....

A 5 shot group like that dont need any improving.

Looks like 6 clicks left and your taken the 10 outta the picture!!!!

Very impressive.

Hi 308P.

Yeah, there wont be any changes made with that load.

I bought the rifle when a friend emmigrated to Canada, he was using 46gr of Vit. N160, 87gr V.Max. and Fed.210 Match primer in Lapua brass but my supply of 87grainers dried up so I went on to the 75gr V.Max. instead.

It still shot a one-hole group at the same place on target and mortified the vermin.

Then the Vit. N160 went off market and I tried the Vit.N140 , my first load was the one I`m using now. It is under max. charge but hammers the primers. I have no extraction problems so I am happy with it.

Yesterdays test shooting was done out of my car window, at 74 I`m getting lazy and couldn`t be bothered to set up the bench for just a few shots.

Regards, HWH.

Hi Zait.

I haven`t tried these rascals over the chronograph yet but the 75gr V.Max. were doing about 3280 FPS with 46gr of Vit. N160.

I may have the info. when I see you on Aug. 19th at the Shoot.

Those damned Carrions have gone sneaky, I haven`t had one recently but now most of the grass is off things may improve.

`colin` has blasted a brace of Bushtails this week and is out again tonight.

Another friend `Raymond` has had 17 Maggies mostly youngsters in his main catcher in the last few weeks.

Lovely group there Stag, I wonder if our mutual friend has replaced the rifle with something as good. Haven't heard from him in ages.

What a cracking group, you must be very pleased I know I would be. I wish I could shoot that well off a bipod let alone the wing mirror, well done indeed.

I use 68gr Barts match bullets, these will be very similar to the Bergers. Generally not quite as desructive as Vmax except when they hit bone but they get the job done just fine. Also tried some JLKs, almost identical performanceagainst paper and fur/feathers to the Barts. You just dont normally get the normal explosion of feathers that you do with VMAX.

For a chap with the use of only one good eye...why bother to spread the group any....

l just hope you're not using the same pencil to punch holes in your score card next week ;)

Hi Guys.

Firstly Andy, I have not heard from Jacko for a long time but one of his friends at Carlisle was in touch with him a week ago.

His wife has killed a deer over there.[ with their car and written it off !!!]

He is doing range work, rifle and pistol. He has an Ackley Improved .243 I am told and has been playing with a Colt .45 ACP.

Now Ratty my `good`eye is only good in parts but at the moment I can still see the reticule centre but not the top bar of a Duplex. It is just a question of time before the dark area moves further down. Those scum-bags at N.I.C.E. and my eye- specialist have a lot to answer for.

If they had told me I was going blind when an operation could have saved my sight I would have gone Private and paid.

I only got the operation when my left eye was useless and vision impaired in the right.

I will try to keep you young Bucks in check on shoot day but it isn

The Ratwife says she's going to show the lot of us ;) ... but only if l get enough ammo run through the press ;)

Then again if you can manage to get her in another grapple, hold l'm sure the rest of us can get further up the points list... ;)

lt may be advisable to take a double dose of your "Niagra Pills" before we all meet, that way you'll stay calm and out of trouble.... ;)

Then again it may also improve your aim if you've no further distractions... ;)

Ratty.

I have just taken half a large tumbler of Bells with 4 spoons of sugar and boiling water also two painkillers and thus to my pit.

Unfortunately I always have negative dreams and never get raped by a herd of virgins. [just as well, having taken the Niagra Tablets earlier in the day, I would hate to prove to be a failure.]

Superb group there Stag, well done,I use these heads at local range for ringing the best out of my 6br sometimes.Interesting to see your 243 velocity for the 75vmax and just as a comparison am getting 3300 out of my little 6br with 31.5 vit135 and like you probably my favourite varmint head!I think Sako would sell a lot of 6br,s if they made it one of their offerings??cheers onehole.

Top shooting Stagg they dont come much better then that, well done.

Like onehole, i use the same bullet in my 6mmBR but at a slightly reduced charge, however the 65 grn V-max launched by 29.6grns of Vit 135 shoots a whole lot better out of my Cooper.

Theoretically this should not be the case but it is, i have some 60grn bergers to try next time i am on the range.

Co-incidentally i used these 68grn bullets in my PPC Stolle when i used to shoot BR but my best group ever was achieved with 70grn SMK's.

Thanks Guys.

I have brewed up another 44 with the 68gr Bergers, all my RP brass is now full.

All were dumped and trickled but that Vit. N140 drops very accurately and sometimes doesn`t need the extra kernel or two.

Next week I will run a few over the chronograph also some of the 75grainers for comparison.

I moved the Swarovski scope over 7 clicks to the left and went to a farm to do a Bunny bashing test with the 68 gr. Bergers.

Took one heart shot, one head shot and one middle body shot to compare results with the 75 gr. V.Max I normally use.

All shots at 90/100 yards killed each Rabbit on the spot but damage seemed less than that caused by the V.Max.

Took the Bunnies to the farmer for his dogs and put up a target at 100 yards to check the new sight setting shooting out of the car window.

It was obvious that at least another click to the left was needed. Made adjustment and will do chrono. tests when I have more time.
