Sakoboomstick
how short can you go with 17 hmr barrel length?
Alycidon
Depends how much velocity you are prepared to trade. A
Sakoboomstick
im happy to trade velocity, it the accuracy i do not want to compromise
Alycidon
Providing the barrel is properly recrowned I cant see why accuracy should be affected, it might even be improoved as the bullet is in the barrel for a shorter time. A
casts_by_fly
like Al said, accuracy shouldn't be affected by shorter barrels unless you go too short that you're getting an extreme muzzle blast around the bullet as it exits. That isn't happening with the HMR. Velocity will drop. Bullberry did a test with an encore/contender barrel. They found ~19" for the maximum and around 16" for the optimum. They went as short as 10" to test. You can decide how much speed you want and how short a barrel you need. http://www.bullberry.com/HMRdata.html Thanks, Rick
