Cheers in advance there was one on guntrader a while ago with 2 piece apel mounts. coulnt comment on their ability to hold zero when removed/refitted like a saddle mount will. moses
Apel mounts are excellent quality. My mate has a set on an Blazer attache in 243 always goes back to zero. ATB Moses
londonhunter
Try "Titanium gun works" in Germany There is also a manufacturer in the states who makes a saddle copy with pitcatinny rail and claims to return to zero. Bought one of each sold both luckily at cost and went back to factory. Nothing come close to original when return to zero. Buy on the continent to avoid Alan Rhone's hugh profit margin. Ronin
Be careful if using these mounts in cold weather (I mean really cold), I have a mate who was shooting wolves (yes really) in East Russia whilst on a Bear hunting trip, he was choppered into a shooting area and jumped out the ex army machine holding the R93, the interior of the chopper was the same temp as the ambient temp - 25 degrees, as he landed, his mounts snapped off at the "ears" they were fitted to a S&B variable hunting scope. Fortunately the Blaser had Iron sights fitted too, as back up, lucky otherwise the trip would have been spoilt. Blaser detach mounts are investment cast,,,,,,,,,not ideal, especially as they are quite expensive, one would expect better.
Guest Baldrick
That's a little worrying, re metal failures in cold weather: don't some of the budget brands like Ruger brag about using investment casting techniques on their centrefires?
