Rifle by the way is a Sauer STR200 / SSG3000 in Vision Chassis, calibre 6.5x55 used by one of the top Skandi shots - bags are Ulfhednar (available through Optics Warehouse)

Not a Creedmoor in sight

They’re available as the SSG 3000

Sportsman and Macavoy sell them

Barrels relatively easy to do with barrel extension (like Tubb and At 15 etc )

Im currently looking for one - had to back out of a second hand one on here at Christmas as had expensive repair on the pickup unexpectedly

SSG 3000 / STR 200 in Vision Chassis or Jet-001 winning many comps over there

This is what I’m planning to build for myself once components located

Cannot source used action at moment which is a pain

Yeah that’s sort of my point, unless you see a used SSG3000 at a good price, it’s not really feasible. Buying new is v expensive, especially if you want to then rebarrel it into something a bit more exotic than .308w and drop it into a chassis that’s better than the factory stock. Quickly becomes a £4-5k gun.

Just a shame the actions aren’t as well marketed/promoted/available here as say the T3 is, which would make a very good, arguably better, rival to the T3s.

If they were, “everyone “ would have them 😄

Regarding cost - many people have a custom rifle built - the cost being upwards of 4K minimum (on a custom action) and around 2k for a used but perfectly functional factory gun on a Tikka or Remington or Howa or ,,,,( enter name I’ve left out)

I think the SSG / STR has a great deal going for it

versatility to swap barrel in couple of minutes

two stage trigger

integral rail (SSG)

versatile action to accommodate long and short calibre ,,,,,

single  stack five round mag

designed especially for target shooting ,,,,,

Three lug bolt - fast cycling

etc etc etc

Couldn’t agree more. I enquired into having an STR200 importer here, along with a Vision chassis a while back. Unfortunately no one was willing to export from Scandi and the Vision was still in prototype phase and wasn’t being produced for commercial sale. Went a different route in the end.

Still, shortly due to have an Impact 737r in a MPA Comp chassis arrive. 🥳

Good luck with project ‘Scandi Shooter’, sounds like a great future build.

Vision now in production and spoken with them over there - willing to get export paperwork and ship here

Have a source for high quality barrel extension in Europe

Just need suitable donor for a project build or buy new - still viable as a variety of stocks are available for a cull gun / working rifle.

Most if not all of mine work for a living

😃 Understand the reservations but this system is used extensively in Scandinavian countries for both PRS and their speed shooting comps which I can’t spell the name of but video below

Mag changes not really an issue and there are several companies who make extensions to accommodate and extra round or two

In the one PRL event and the first Precision Rifle event at Gardner’s I managed mag changes easily enough with the rifle I was using

Tikka CTR (TAc A1) mags are 2.900 so no real benefit over aics - the Sauer mags accommodate 3.600” (I believe ) so lots of space to play with in the direction I’m looking toward

Andy must admit the 3k is or was used by URNA here along with AIs . Of the ones that I have shot I preferred the old wooden stock to the plastic Mc Millan stock.

An Etac stock for it would be a sweet thing.

That is very quiet for a 6.5X55. Impressive.
