Gandy Report post Posted September 1 Stunning rifle; would be my choice of components too. What’s the balance like and how long was the barrel.
lapua Report post Posted September 1 Andy, why the left port?
ejg223 Report post Posted September 1 Very nice Andy, well done. we were lucky with the barrel channel.... Yes I must start on a mould for the E-Lite Rem 700 converting stocks is a pain. edi
Ronin Report post Posted September 1 Left port because customer specified action that way Background of images - yes I could have chosen a better shade ,,,,,,I prefer the faux wolf fur I have Balance point is towards the front of the magazine - nigh on perfect Barrel is 22” (I recall) The stock is perfect for a lightweight build for a carry all day stalking rifle It would be a perfect base for Tikka T3 or Rem 700 or clone action for people who wanted lightweight, durable and portable rifle
Gandy Report post Posted September 1 What profile is the barrel vs what weight. I.e. is it a varmint profile for a sporter weight ? ps I love the mr blobby background.
Tikka 260 Report post Posted September 1 V nice , great stalking rifle. Interesting that there might be pse stocks for Rem 700 clones in the offing.
Treedave Report post Posted September 1 Edi - thanks to you and Peter for sorting this, especially with my PITA time frame. Got to say it handles better than it looks. I’ve managed some initial load development today, which looks good. Longer range data testing to follow. The mod was not as quiet as expected. But after a few rounds it got quiet enough and apart from the mirage, you don’t notice it’s on. pics of 130 gr Berger vld group and a 143 eld x group. ejg223 Report post Posted September 1 Was a pleasure, I see Andy did his part very well. She is shooting great. enjoy, it is a lovely setup. edi
srvet Report post Posted September 2 Dave we got a larger version of the F&D moderator for Bens 6.5 x47 that is very effective and light too. Assuming thread compatibility (18x1) you are welcome to try that one to see if it better suits your needs. It was remarked on yesterday at Grayrigg as being noticeably quiet cheers S
Treedave Report post Posted September 2 Srvet, I would love to mix n match but my barrel is too fat for most mods, hence having to go for an end can. Thanks for the offer though. If noise turns into an issue I’d probably trial the ase utra sl7i or hausken sk156.
srvet Report post Posted September 2 Ahh must be a real fatty!! No worries

Ronin Report post Posted September 3 Think the barrel is just under an inch diameter at the muzzle - not many over barrel (reflex) moderators will accommodate this and there was an added issue that Dave wanted Ti or similar light weight material which isn’t freely available either
ejg223 Report post Posted September 3 I think I have the 20" version of that barrel. She has 24mm at the muzzle if I remember right. We had talked about this before... there is a Hausken JD224 with extra big hole in the back. I am using one on my rifle. edi
Ronin Report post Posted September 3 We have Edi the Hausken in question isn’t available in mainland uk for unknown reasons and the Irish importer is unable to export across the sea (checked by customer ) Frustrating for end user
ejg223 Report post Posted September 3 I understand the Irish importer. So difficult getting anything into Ireland... never mind trying to get it out again. Maybe you should put pressure on your importer or go direct to Hausken… saying the importer is.... an importer that doesn't import is....? edi

Norfresh Report post Posted September 5 Beautiful set up, Edi has a very similar build in the works for me using a Kelbly Atlas tactical action. Looking at these photos I hope the barrel channel is big enough!!
ejg223 Report post Posted September 5 Norfresh, E-Tac4 or E-Lite? edi
Norfresh Report post Posted September 5 I have the E-lite ordered but you said you would have to check if the proof research barrel would fit the channel.
