Moorlander
The slow but sure ban on all gun types , if you cant shoot vermin you dont need a rifle for vermin control , the SNP are no better that the Nazi party , just a little bit more subtle . Pete Legally classed as game, but how their numbers are controlled depends on the area,in wensleydale theyre not very common so arnt shot like the rabbit;which are in plague like numbers again. In other areas ive worked where the hare was numerous their numbers were controlled to keep visits from the 'caravan club' to a minimum so they were treated as 'vermin' .All depends on the ammount of hares in the area and the impact they have as to how theyre classified by the individual. Just standard SNP approach to something that does not interest them or will go down well with the perceived views of the urban power bases they rely on to keep them in power. Remember the state appointed guardian for every child fiasco, the sheer arrogance of that was unbelievable, Air rifle licence etc etc, SNP are blessed with a disgusting amount of we know what’s best for you controlling left wing socialist individuals in positions of authority propped up by the greens. People need to look past the independence rhetoric and actually take a look at how they perform as the governing party in Scotland.

Woodlander
It’s probably a reaction to the wholesale and unregulated slaughter of hare on grouse moors, When you see images like this, it’s hardly surprising, you don’t have to be an ‘urban Greenie’, for that to turn you stomach. It’s fkn disgraceful.....
Woodlander
Damn,I can’t upload photos. Anyway, the image shows 3 blokes unloading about 300 dead hares from a box van. Can anyone provide a valid explanation as to why this is necessary?

It’s fkn disgraceful..... yes, it's rich having 'townies' complain about shooters but maybe a long hard look in the mirror would help. Please stop calling people Nazis, it's stupid, ignorant and offensive. The problem with shooting is it's a minority sport with little to no support from a non-shooting urban populous. It's actually democracy at work for better or worse - the better solution is to crack down on disgusting practices by some industrial shooting estates (not all by any means are bad) and win some hearts and minds. Thin end of the wedge arguments are also a bit rich; how many of you "game" shooters campaigned to resist the MARS and 50cal bans and help out target shooters? The "Thin end of the Wedge" argument was not made by a game shooter (me) as I'm purely a target shooter and I was certainly against the MARS & 50. cal ban. The comment was made purely about the increasing distrust & fear of the firearms owning section of the population by clueless "townies" (of which I'm one.) and the political parties they tend to support, who would do anything possible to stop the public at large from owning firearms, so please don't think that all "Townies" are lefty lib snowflakes and shooting sports are the sole preserve of country folk. That's all I was saying

That's all I was saying fair point, I was being general in my response rather than directing it at your post hence didn't quote you. However I'm sick of 'thin end of the wedge' arguments in the shooting "community". It's wishful thinking to expect such a wide group of shooting sports participants to support others without considering all factors in contention, I think it's only rational to weigh in the balance all factors before lending my support to any group. Varmint shooting, deer stalking and even game-bird shooting is perfectly legitimate and can be done with animal welfare at its centre - my objection is the industrial rearing of birds to blast away at and the unsavoury practices that some (by no means all) estate managements employ to maximise profits. The only thing that I have in common with some in the shooting community is a gun and rifle, it'll take more than that to get my support. Pete Indeed sickening. I think it's high time enforcement action was taken because the industry clearly are taking the piss out of "voluntary" codes of conduct. The game shooting industry can go whistle if they want my support.
Moorlander
Hare`s can be legally shot , would the emotional ones be as outraged if 300 rats or grey squirrels had been shot?

Game and varmint shooters want public support and support from other FAC holders such as target shooters. The optics aren't good are they? Best of luck convincing the general public with reason.. Talking of emotion: "the SNP are no better that the Nazi party , just a little bit more subtle ". Way to go with reasoned argument 😉
Kalahari
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to call the SNP Nazis, but have a look at history and see which political organisation boasted about bringing the strongest laws about firearms control. David. PS as a clue it was the National Socialists aka the Nazi party.
Moorlander
In reality the SNP are closer to marxists but given enough free reign and with their hatred of English they would behave very similar to nazis.

I’m English and living in Scotland and feel no hatred for me coming from the SNP, just a sense of social justice, that more parties should share and comparing them to the Nazi party, just because you don’t agree with their policies, is frankly idiotic. Hatred for the ‘English’ government in Westminster, maybe, but I share that view myself. As has been said, just because we all own firearms, doesn’t mean we all want to shoot the that which promotes growth and vigour out of everything that is legal quarry or support those that do. You live in a rural area and generally rural people dont vote SNP , visit some Glasgow pubs and declare your Englishness and you`ll witness hatred very quickly.
